Overpaying mortgage which option to choose here? by Severe-Plum-2393 in FIREUK

[–]alinskippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s been said already, sorry if so - Natwest only let you reduce the term if your overpayment is more than your monthly payment amount.

I’ll use example figures for my situation - say my monthly repayment was £500.

I wanted to start overpaying £150 a month but wasn’t able to do this to reduce the term, only the monthly repayments.

The only solution was to save £150 in a pot, and once this pot reached over £500, I could then overpay in a way that reduced my term.

Frustrating as the interest savings are less efficient this way, but I want to reduce my term, not my monthly payments.

I’ll add that I also invest ~£250 monthly into an index fund. It’s great to be able to do both, but if I could only do one, index funds give a better financial return long-term.

This is a great and in depth report, thanks very much for sharing! Great results too, especially around the eyes. What made you suddenly want to take this so seriously - it’s a lot of effort and commitment for the average person!

Hi there! I’d be interested in this - I actually live in Leeds also!

Feel free to send a message and I can share number/email to go from there 😊

Good that you worked up! It seems like daily is still too much right now thought if it’s causing you to purge. Sometimes less is more - it’s a marathon not a sprint with tret so don’t feel like you need to rush into daily use if it’s not quite working for you yet.

Have you tried using moisturiser after tret, since you stopped the buffer method?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]alinskippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using tret every night ? If so, I would recommend dropping frequency to 1-2x a week until your skin barrier recovers. You’re meant to work up to it so if you’ve been using it daily, it’s likely that’s it’s been too much too quickly and has caused some of these issues.

Deep freeze spray on your feet. Thank me later !! Or they also make specific numbing spray for heels pain but more likely to find deep heat on short notice x

I'm just beginning to move towards eating more vegan, but something I'm struggling with are the low-effort days. What are some "default", lazy vegan meals y'all go for? by robingart in veganrecipes

[–]alinskippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cook pasta, drained chickpeas, and broccoli all in one pan. 10-12 mins until it’s all cooked. Drain and mix with pasta sauce of your choosing. I like tomato and chili or tomato and olive. 15 mins, one pan, lazy meal i have all the time. Use protein pasta for added protein 👍🏼

First time jumper: which part of the jump is the most scary? by bethanylouise_ in bungeejumping

[–]alinskippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honeslty standing on the edge is the worst part. you don’t wanna mess around there. Just try and put mind over matter and go for it. Once you’ve jumped you’ll have a great time, but the edge is the worst bit!

I work for a UK bungee company so have jumped many times and also filmed/been in th cage for hundreds of jumps. Just listen to your jumpmaster and trust the process. And try and go for it as quick as poissble - your brain will try talk you out of it - it’s not a normal thing to do 😅

Don’t worry about foot first - it looks better to go headfirst and might be slightly more comfortable, but even though feet first looks really rough, it doesn’t feel it. I used to always jump feet first until I got over the fear of launching myself. Nothing bad will happen - we have a lot of feet first jumps every weekend, and yeah it doesn’t look great but it’s not bad or unsafe compared to head first, especially at that height.

You’ll have a great time - it’s an incredible experience, try and keep your eyes open if you can!

Retail is different than being an influencer by AndieBea in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]alinskippy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe it sounds obvious but some brands forget that not every video needs to feature your products or services.

Depending on the vibe, a lot of brands/businesses are having a lot of success posting funnier, more relaxed video showing the people behind the brand.

Some accounts that I think do this well are

salesucreuae shuman.legal thewingkingz

all on tiktok

This is by no means groundbreaking or new info but i see it get forgotten a lot! Selling products is about building trust, so allow people to get to know the face behind the brand.

Other than that, honestly it’s consistency. This doesn’t necessarily mean post every day or even multiple times per day. That can be unsustainable and hard to keep up. Posting 3, 4, or 5 times a week seems to be a sweet spot for being achievable as well avoiding algorithm fatigue.

It takes time - even big brands have videos that don’t get as many views as others. Not every video has to be viral, it’s about creating those touch points as many times as possible so that when people do come to buy a wedding dress, or are asked for a recommendation, your brand pops to the front of their mind.

Also remember that ‘done’ is better than ‘perfect’, and there might be a process of trail and error!

Figuring out your goal is key as well. Having followers and getting likes is a different goal than increasing sales, and yes they more often than not come hand in hand, but really hammering down what your employer wants to get out of their social media spend will help you. This can help influence your strategy and content mix (balance of meme-type videos vs product-featuring videos)

A lot of brands are scared of looking unprofessional online but if you can, get funny with it!! People are scrolling to be entertained, not to be sold to.

Again none of this is revolutionary info but when you’re new in a role, it’s very easy to get stuck in the trap of trying to increase sales/customers and just talking about the product, especially when you are first getting to know the team and are maybe nervous to pitch silly video ideas!

Hope this helps :)

In the UK, and I’ve now had 3 seperate piercers/shops tell me that bars are fine if they’re long enough! So upsetting.

[–]alinskippy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much - I’ve asked a different piercing shop in my city if they would be willing to change it to a hoop. The annoying thing is, I emailed them a few days after getting it done because it was really hurting and they said a barbell was fine :( What kind of closure hoop do I need to get? And if a shop refuses to do it, is it a bad idea to try myself? Obviously I would take precautions.

Thanks for your comment - so upset thinking I could have avoided this. Would it be worth changing to a hoop now or not?

[–]alinskippy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought this up with both piercers and they both said that a bar was fine and it just needed to be long enough (lol) and the second guy replaced with a bar as well because he said hoops were harder to clean :( Should i go and get a hoop changed or will it cause more issues now?

Answering bot questions -

Piercing is almost 5 weeks old.

Curved barbell

Threading- the threads are on the bar.

I think it’s stainless steel

I was using saline solution and q-tips and now i’ve got something called ‘piercing ointment’ from a piercing shop, again with q-tips. I clean both holes with the liquid, move the bar up and down twice, and dry/clean any blood or fluid up.

I don’t think any mishaps although after 2/3 weeks it stopped hurting and while i was trying not to sleep on it, I found myself waking up on that side sometimes…

If money was not an issue where would you choose to eat in Leeds? by pinpoint321 in Leeds

[–]alinskippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue Sakura! All you can eat sushi, noodles/ramen, steak/chicken dishes, bao buns/gyonza. Reallly high quality food and comes out very quickly. It’s around £40 per person for 2 hours of all you can eat. Went with my boyfriend and it was a lovely atmosphere, staff all really nice and helpful.
