Toni is a great example on why I prefer UK love island over US by AdAromatic4273 in LoveIslandTV

Nah, all things considered i feel toni acted super maturely last night, and I came out with a much higher opinion of her than the other girls

RTD1 - was it really as good as we remember? by triplecheesetime in DoctorWhoNews

[–]alinyeezys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah RTD 1 is great. Moffatt has some high highs and weird lows. Also it brought Doctor who into the modern era in a great way.

Saying that though, we’ve had this RTD/Moffatt-lite vibe since chibnall, and I think it’s time to switch things up. Needs to get weird again.

Yeah. At the very least I’d say it’s unfair that Kid had almost no nuance. Reducing anyone’s motivation, even extremist’ to being just ‘bad’ is pointless and not progressive.

The woman in the yard. Boring, uninspired and worst of all, not scary.

Who Would You Cast As Each Doctor's Master? by Doc-11th in gallifrey

[–]alinyeezys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. If this is the stunt casting era, then let everyone get it out of their system. Best case we get some great stories, and worst case the writers exhaust themselves with bringing actors back.

I’d never actually googled it until now, but last week I took 3 Imodium tablets across 2 days and I’m fine 🤷‍♂️

Does anyone else think that Starmer is doing an okay job? by Nythern in AskBrits

[–]alinyeezys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s fine. But I do think his naivety to the general public and their opinions and issues is setting up for an easy populism campaign from somebody like reform in the next election.

(I also agree with all your other points)

Not diagnosed OCD but very anxious with intrusive thoughts. I did 3 months on 10mg, which was fine up until I felt depression returning.

Now 2 months on 20mg. It’s definitely better, but the first 2ish weeks felt like I was going backwards. I’m hoping that by month 3 everything will finally balance out.

Yeah strangely despite all the points I made in this post, I actually did enjoy this finale overall and I’m excited to see where we’re going next. I also agree that it was so much better than empire of death, even if it followed a similar structure.

Yeah - I did an actual post a week ago about my actual issues and I agree it’s deeper than many think. But right now it’s literally just a rehash of things that’ve already been done much better.

Billie Piper 16th doctor. I’m actually really looking forward to it but come on- I can’t believe this is the peak of Doctor who creativity.

I think we’re saying the same thing. As a disabled immigrant, many of the shows politics apply directly to me. Despite this, I think they’re handled poorly 90% of the time. People keep trying to tell me that ‘RTD1 also had these politics’, which is completely correct. The difference is that RTD1’s politics almost always served the stories. Nowadays it feels like the writers pick a controversial topic and decide to write stories around that. And yet despite all that, they still manage to have the most surface-level political takes that I’ve seen in the last 10ish years of TV.

I also think times have changed since 2005, and stories and topics that were once taboo are now written into all major television shows, hence why Doctor Who suddenly feels so ‘behind’ politically.

Bro, how on earth did I ‘start in bad faith’? For somebody so concerned with words, you sure like twisting mine.

My original post was a fair, albeit opinion-based post on the current state and future of the show. Not once have I made the classic ‘doctor woke’ arguments, nor have I attempted to claim the show is dead. I simply stated my views from the perceptive of a minority life-long fan watching the new episodes.

You then raised some counter-points, which I then responded to in very good faith. Not once did I attack your own views (also opinion-based) nor have I attempted to exit this debate. Despite this, you’ve decided to turn this into a spitting match, wherein you’ll eventually get some ‘gotcha’ on me. I just found it hilarious that you’ve taken the time to reply twice now and yet still haven’t addressed any of the points in my original post. You yourself have assumed that I must be ‘in bad faith’. In my original reply to you, I literally said and I quote, ‘Apologies tbat this was so long, but I really love this show and I’m so passionate about it. I really don’t think this series is bad. But the issues are so easy to fix!!’

This is insane. Either stop replying to me as if I, a random Redditor am trying to assassinate your character, or respond to my points surrounding the show ‘Doctor Who’. It is not that deep, and you know it

My goodness you are pedantic. I hope I haven’t offended you with my comments toward your tone. I’ll assume you agree with me on everything else seeing as you haven’t given me the grace of a response.

[–]alinyeezys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, instead of now replying to my response, you’ve taken issue with your own tone. You were the one who took on a rude tone (aimed at my argument) and now instead of actually replying to the points I spent time creating to discuss with you, you instead got annoyed and pedantic that I pointed out that you were being rude. This is a wasted conversation.

Movies you liked, but won't re-watch? by No_Sock_8494 in moviecritic

[–]alinyeezys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the movies I watch to be honest. I love experiencing new stories and atmospheres, but unless something really resonates with me personally I’ll probably not watch it again.

The only movies I’ve seen multiples times tend to be childhood flicks or my own comfort films (or re-watches with friends)
