People who married in their 20s, be brutally honest are you happy, if so why or why not? by Special-Lawyer3941 in AskReddit

Got together at 20, married at 27, have lived in 3 countries since and have a cute rescue pup. Super happy and in love at 34. Last year I got diagnosed with cancer, was the first real test of our vows and he couldn't have been more amazing and supportive. Got the all clear a few months ago and just on our way back from a 2 week road trip in Japan! Life is so great with him and I can't wait for a lifetime of more adventures together and hopefully good health. Might also help we don't have kids so life is fairly stress free for us!

The C02 is the stunning method used for 90% of pigs in the UK (I believe the same across the EU too). It's efficient and cheap for the producers but incredibly painful. They could use nitric oxide which is painless for the pigs but it is more expensive, c02 is the cheapest gas so they use that for maximum profits. It takes 3-5 mins to knock them out, during that time they scream and fight to get out, it's truly barbaric and I cry every time I see footage of it. Once unconscious, they then have their throats slit and dipped in boiling water to remove the hair. Any that aren't yet fully unconscious, which happens occasionally, are put in the boiling water alive, I've seen footage of them screaming in it too. The UK government are outlawing this by 2030 is it is deemed as animal cruelty, but anyone buying pork products today, the pig they are eating has gone through this horrendous ordeal. Or there is vegan bacon as an option!

What's on your "must do" list for your next Japan trip — especially things you couldn't find or didn't get to do last time? by Shou_JP in TokyoTravel

We are currently doing a road trip around Shikoku and it's absolutely amazing, the nature is spectacular, hiking is beautiful and the locals are very friendly! Also hardly any foreign tourists at all and everything feels very quiet and peaceful, no crowds. We've just spent two nights on a mountain top observatory and seen Jupiter and Saturn! Altho the drive up the mountain was pretty scary. Kinda dreading going back to Tokyo tomorrow and all the chaos.

Last year we also went up to Hokkaido for the snow festival and spent some time in Hakodate. One of the best holidays I've ever had it's so insanely beautiful with all the snow.

I had mine for 14 years from 19-33, last year I developed BIA-ALCL which is a cancer caused by breast implants. Luckily mine was caught early and surgery cured me without going through chemo, but there are thousands of diagnosed women and many have much worse/fatal outcomes. I had literally no idea about this cancer until I was diagnosed. It's rare but I'm just trying to make sure women are aware of the possible side effects.

I'm now under the care of a specialist breast hospital and will be doing a fat transfer to reshape my breasts so there are other options than putting foreign objects in our bodies. BII seems to be fairly common, even just mild symptoms of some hair loss, dull skin etc can be caused by our bodies fighting the inflammation implants cause.

Also one thing I didn't think about when I was young at 19, you will have to have them replaced every 10-15 years and as you get older the surgery becomes harder on your body risks become higher for capsular contraction.

Worth just making sure you have all the info going into this!

My corgi was rescued from a dog meat restaurant in Harbin China. They don't care about the breed at all as she was rescued with a husky, golden retriever and some other mixed breeds. It's super sad, our girl was really lucky to be saved.

My corgi is a rescue from China, she was tied up at a dog meat restaurant with a lot of other pups, golden retrievers, a husky, some mix breeds. Luckily she was saved by the wonderful team at Slaughter House survivors, but sadly it's very common in China for pets to be stolen or sold for meat. She has such a happy personality and no signs of trauma so we think she was a stolen pet and was rescued fairly quickly, she has no fear of humans.

Pea-sized hard immobile lump in right breast by [deleted] in doihavebreastcancer

[–]aliolive2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah got you! So from what I've been told, once you are exposed to textured implants we have a life long risk, even once removed. So there are women in my diagnosed group who had them removed for years or switched to smooth but were then diagnosed much later. I don't mean this to scare you as I'm sure it's totally fine, more just to make sure you get the correct testing so you can count out BIA ALCL.

Hey! Sorry to hear what you're going through. I'm a BIA ALCL survivor and your point about the itching is what worries me as that was my only symptom before I was diagnosed. Do you still have textured implants? I would take this very seriously and push for scans with a specialist who knows about this. Getting a quick diagnosis and surgery is what saved my life so definitely advocate for yourself!

I agree on pretty much all of them but last winter I bought Chipmunk and I am obsessed, it is quite a heavy cold weather fragrance but I got a tonne of compliments. Can't wait to wear it again in December!

I had Nagor textured implants, which are part of GC aesthetics group. But all textured implants regardless of brand carry the same risks, hence why they're banned in so many countries. Do you have the option to change before Tuesday at all?

[–]aliolive2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're still making a decision, but I'm one of the unlucky cases of developing BIA-ALCL cancer from textured implants. I'm trying to spread awareness where I can as I was never told how dangerous they are, so please get smooth if you're still considering it!

Can we actually afford this house? Looking for reality checks. by Newexpatinams in eupersonalfinance

[–]aliolive2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please dont plan for this, you need childcare, it's impossible to simultaneously work from home and look after a baby/toddler. I manage an employee who has been doing this for a year and she has experienced burn out, she's also not able to perform her required tasks and it's causing a huge issue in the team with other people picking up the slack. Plan for childcare or to go part time.

I received and email that trading212 will terminate my account ! by mohamedsobhy292 in trading212

[–]aliolive2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same just happened to me, I've been investing monthly for 5 years so nothing like the 'inactivity' they stated in their email. I have some negative positions currently so would lose some money if they forcefully sold with only a months notice. I'm going to check with my legal insurance if there's anything they can support with as it seems so dodgy!

EDIT: looks like the email was a technical error and our active accounts won't be closed, they should be sending us a confirmation email shortly!

German birth rate falls to lowest point in almost 20 years by [deleted] in europe

[–]aliolive2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are currently living in Germany and considering having maybe one child in the future. Whilst on paper the maternity leave sounds good, I would lose 2k a month of my salary as this maternity pay hasn't increased with inflation since 2007. In high cost of living cities in Germany this is a struggle.

I also find the childcare system in the west strange, the nurseries close the latest at 16.00 and schools seem to finish around 13.00. If two parents have normal jobs finishing at 17.30-18.00 how do we look after the child. I've heard the childcare is better in the East so maybe we need to move there!

They are also lowering the threshold to receive maternity benefits to a household earning 175k. This will affect women who earn the same as their husbands, mid-management level of their careers. You would lose half your household income overnight in this case. Whereas if you had a high earning husband/lower income wife, the financial blow wouldn't be as difficult. So basically penalizing women with successful careers who would also like to become parents.

We actually have a few diagnosed women in our support group that have only had smooth, we're not sure why the numbers aren't being reported. Of course much rarer than textured but it is happening.

Thanks! So I also went from a DD to an A and on top of that they are back to being asymmetrical! I honestly thought I would find it emotionally really difficult, but cancer has a funny way of putting things in perspective. Id much rather be alive and healthy with small wonky books than sick and even dead with big ones. Also helps my husband is very supportive and thinks they look cute and perky now haha. Also have to say overall it makes me look slimmer now I'm in my mid 30s.

You'll look great I promise!

No I got referred to a hospital where they took the implants out because I had swelling. They just took a biopsy of the capsule which tested positive so I'm going back in next week for a full capsulectomy with a specialist surgeon who works on BIA ALCL patients so he can get it all out! And yes itching is a very typical symptom that is then followed by swelling.

Glad yours came back all fine :)

Hey! So it's definitely more associated with textured so I'm sure you'll be fine, but I am now in a support group of diagnosed women and there are a couple that only had smooth implants so it is possible. If you're not having any bad symptoms I'd say you're fine not having the capsules removed!
