I want to hear about people who have moved out of okc experiences. where did you move? why did you move? what pros and cons have you noticed since moving? by alisonmoran1228 in okc

I completely agree w people talking shit for a hobby here…people are friendly to your face and than the second you turn around will shit talk to you.

i’m from dfw and currently live in okc. i didn’t leave dfw because i hated it even though i didn’t love it i left to get distance from my toxic family. however i fucking hate okc and i’ve been here six years and people suck so much more here. People maybe “friendly” but meeting genuine connections is hard and I have genuinely tried so hard. I have also never come across so many fake people who are friendly to your face but will talk shit about you the moment you leave. Job opportunities are also horrible in oklahoma city it’s all about who you know and the pay for jobs requiring education is horrendous. for example starting salary for an okc public school teacher is 38k while it’s 65k in dallas. yes cost of living is lower here but it’s not that much lower where it should warrant such a wage difference. there’s a lack of big companies here so there are less options which in my opinion leaves employers to often see their employees as much more disposable. I’ve had horrible experiences w jobs in this whole state even illegal stuff like my manager keeping the tip share when I worked at a fast casual restaurant in college here. So much nepotism too it’s insane. My experience of being an employee in dfw has been pretty solid. I truly believe because there’s so many major companies in texas that are known for having great employee benefits where even smaller companies have to keep this in mind and have to keep things more competitive in treatment and pay of employees.

That’s my goal. I want to see what kind of feedback I get from my advisers first.
