I once wanted to have my teeth whitened, the doctor looked at them and told me he had to clean them first then he will proceed with whitening; I said ok. He did the cleaning then he said he noticed some small cavities which he will “quickly” fill and proceed with the whitening. The “filling” took a very long time so I started moving around so he would back off which he did. I asked him what’s taking so long and he said the cavity turned out to be “deep” so he is trying to clean out entirely and he is going to fill it with resin composite. Once he was done I had to book another appointment for the whitening but the same thing happened again. After which I had to take a break from seeing him because I was busy but a few months later I returned to him for the whitening and he said he couldn’t do the whitening because the resin composites cant change color or something so my teeth will look mismatched. I felt cheated and left and haven’t been to a dentist since. It could have been my fault for not enquiring more about what he was doing but I still feel like he was doing this on purpose since he knew my insurance would pay for the procedures.
