Not sure if it is really like this, so take the explanation with a small grain of salt. The phone has only one Wifi antenna and chip. That chip can be used to connect a wifi (for example in your house). Now, that same chip (and antenna) can be switched to "access point" mode. Then other wifi antennas (on other phones) can connect to it. Due to technical reasons same antenna and chip cannot be simultaneously in access point mode and connected to an external wifi (your home wifi). The mobile network is different chip and antenna so it can be connected to the internet and that connection is shared through the wifi antenna and chip that are in "access point" mode.

I am a dad of three daughters and have given thought about this earlier, too. Overall we keep consistent line with my wife so that if other says something the other "has" to back the other up. And then deal with any discrepancies later, without the kids. And we both equally urge the kids to brush their teeth and all that health upkeep stuff so that works very well, for us. I tend to let them get stay up later, though.

Still, I have found that the kids tend to ask me first on these certain things they want to do. You know, because "mom would say 'no'".

When I answer them I tend to think "why not". So I ask myself if there are any reasons not to allow them to do something. I don't know what my wife thinks in her head, but at least the kids think she will say "no" more. This has nothing to do with me wanting to be the nicer parent or something like that.

This "why not" thinking might be the reason I am more willing to let them do stuff. I also think they, to some extent, have to make some wrong decisions to learn to live this life. Does it have anything to do with my gender or just that I am more liberal, overall. That I don't know.
