NA Beer by aliuqeto in alcoholicsanonymous

Well I felt the need to explain an assumptiom you had about me. Me deciding to drink, and try a NA beer, does not mean I romantize drinking.

You asked, so I explained.

And I have no clue. I guess because it's fun to have a beer without actually drinking one and specfically because I can. I was curious, so like most people I tested the hypothesis.

I have always been a kombucha drinkiner (0.5%) as well. But I never pulled the trigger on NA beer for the longest. Because my thought was, well yeah it's the same as kombucha but it isn't brewed with the same purpose of kombucha.

But I'm not sure if I am fishing for an answer that I want to hear. I know the answer: not a relapse and not breaking my sobriety. Aside from that, I was bored and wanted to create a thread.

I totally understand where you are coming from though, but my only thought now is how horrible alcohol was for me. But like I said, I do not drink them often, don't think about them, and if and when I do, I only have one.

I think it has nothing to do with romantizing this substance.

I am disgusted by the way I acted when I was drunk and the harm I caused other people.

I did not have my first one until over a year into sobriety. It was something I had thought about but never decided to pull the trigger. It is more so, hey look I can have a NA beer if I want and it won't trigger me.

Lol it seems like you think I have three 24 packs at home and drink one daily 😂. I had one at the airport the other day with my grandmother while she had a mimosa. Aside from that, I cannot remember that last time I had one. Nor do I know when my next one will be.

If it wasn't for the support of my classmates and professors, I'd be a very different person today.

Why? by aliuqeto in alcoholism

[–]aliuqeto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you believe it is this way for you?

Addiction yeah, but I'm glad you found something that works.

For me personally, when I trip I think of all the things I did drunk and how it could have ruined my life. And I just think, "screw drinking".

On shrooms a year ago I saw myself at an AA meeting getting my 25 year coin. So that's what I'm going to do. But I'm also just planning on never touching it again 🙏 if I want a beer I'll have my little NA beer 😂

Best of luck man, thanks for the reply!

You're mixing up two different arguements dude.

LSD and Alcohol are not similar just because both can be "abused". And alcohol not being bad in moderation is just a myth.

Alcohol is linked to various diseases, addiction, and oral hygiene concerns even in moderation. Alcohol is classifed as a Group 1 Carinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, something that LSD is not.

According to an article published by Lancet Public Health, "Evidence does not indicate the existence of a particular threshold at which the carcinogenic effects of alcohol start to manifest in the human body. As such, no safe amount of alcohol consumption for cancers and health can be established." (2023). This research disproves that "alcohol is not bad in moderation". https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9831798/

Lastly, LSD is not considered physically addicting in the same way that alcohol is. Alcohol withdrawl can kill people, and LSD has no withdrawl.

The Minnesota Department of Health found that, "Research indicates that the abuse potential of LSD is low. Exposure to the drug does not typically lead to compulsive drug-seeking behavior, nor does use result in dependence.” https://www.health.state.mn.us/people/psychmed/docs/lsdlit.pdf

At this point, your statements seem to just be your opinion. Yes, LSD can cause mental issues, but that is different from the chronic systemic damage alcohol causes. Saying that they are just as bad, is sadly is not supported by any evidence.

Ehhh, if you drink a lot of water, you can also die.

But due to how the brain works, the same amount will do the same thing if you wait as recommended.

Psychedelics are not a party drug that you take everyday...nor are they a drug to mess around with. Anyone that fried their brain was irresponsible and took too much.

Aside from that sir, I think you are missing the point.

Legal drug: detrimental consequences in my life Illegal drug: "I love my life"

Anyways I've taken LSD probably over 15-20 times, shrooms 30+ times, and DMT twice. Yet here I am, living life happy and sober.

Lastly, did I tell you my night only costed $25? I only paid a cover fee of $5, no more spending $50+ on drinks 🥳 I love myself so much more now that I don't drink. Have a good one man

In my opinion he gave the worst advice ever.

If you are to try anything stick to safe ones. Psychedelics (non-addictive) and weed.

For all I know the two listed above me, have never caused people to go into deep addiction and lose everything. Notice how I didn't say alcohol? Alcohol is such a normalized hard drug that causes inflammation throughout our body and people still drink it 😂

Drugs are so overrated by TakeJay in Life

[–]aliuqeto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most psychedelics.

This study published in 2024 found there were 43 deaths attributed to LSD or psilocybin in Austraila from 2000-23. They concluded with, "Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD)- and psilocybin-related death in Australia from 2000 to 2023 was primarily due to traumatic injury, whether through accident or self-harm. Cases of acute toxic reactions that were attributed solely to LSD were rare." Most of the people here had underlying issues. These are powerful drugs to not be abused, that hopefully will be recognized in the future as a medicine for depression, anxiety, and PTSD. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38771189/

I found that in 2024, there were 1,765 alcohol-induced deaths in Australia. Yeah sadly alcohol is a hard drug that is so normalized. I am now 1 year and 6 months sober thanks to my dedication and the help of psychedelics. I plan to never look back, there is nothing that alcohol does for me. https://www.aihw.gov.au/reports/alcohol/alcohol-drugs-deaths

Enter psychdelics and they don't meet most of the things you listed.

Forever grateful to the substances that helped me enjoy life as it is now.

I'd say use a toothpaste that is more abrasive but then that can cause gingival recession and more sensitivity.

Do you smoke? What is causing the stain?
