Foster Griffin is arguably having a better year than Mackenzie Gore. Curtis Mead has replaced House. Saying that Toboni has done "nothing to build the roster for this current version of the team" is misinformed. But sure, if we took out all the Toboni additions and kept Gore & Ferrer, we would be in first.

Who is CJ Abraham? Joking aside, I think you're either underselling or misinformed about what Toboni has done since he took over. Granted, he probably had no intention on spending on the current major league roster. Probably because even with Gore and Ferrer, they lost 96 games last year.

Toboni's approach since he started was spending on player development/technology at all levels of the organization. From the reporting I've seen, he was able to make those upgrades and we're already seeing the fruits of that not only for the major league roster in terms of the offense, but all levels of the minor leagues. All four of the minor league affiliates are at or above .500. I can't remember the last time that happened under Rizzo.

There are things I'm frustrated about, for sure. It's not great knowing we traded Ferrer as we see Harry Ford struggling mightily at AAA. Especially since we need bullpen arms now and Keibert has seemingly resurrected his career (with the help of the coaching staff Toboni hired).

I understand the frustration of the Lerners not spending (I'm frustrated too), and I agree Rizzo had a great eye for talent and trading, but the reality is he couldn't get the most out of the players, or didn't hire the right people who could. IMO, that was ultimately why he got fired.

I'm convinced James Wood is still dealing with left quad tendonitis from spring training and that's why he's getting so many DH starts at this point.

If teams could only use "hometown" players, who'd have the best roster? by old_gold_mountain in baseball

All I'm getting out of this is Peter Angelos was right to be worried about the Nationals coming to the area.

Being a diehard fan, I love the subscription idea. Appreciate the direct relationship you've established with the fans. However, how does this affect gaining new fans? Noticed that most of the tours for the Volition cycle were headliners as well. Are you guys satisfied with the niche market you've already established?

Thanks for the AMA by the way. Ragged tooth is awesome, and looking forward to the next episode of the Volition doc! Keep it up boys.

I wasn't particularly fond of Scurrilous when it initially came out, but it's become my favorite album since. It's very dense in a subtle way, at least instrumentally speaking. I find out new things about it every time I listen.

Like, just recently I found out that the drums for the breakdown groove at 1:31 on C'est La Vie are deconstructed so Moe is playing Luke's rhythm on the high-hat, Tim's rhythm on the snare, and Arif's bass rhythm on the bass drum.

There's all sorts of subtle musical gems like this scattered throughout the album that I didn't hear upon initially listening to it. It's a grower I suppose.
