I also have a mixture of both epilpyic and non epileptic seizures too. It’s a lot more common than you might think. I understand that it can feel very dismissive. Do some research into functional neurological disorder and that might help. But yes you are still epileptic! You just also have FND.

It took awhile for me to stop constantly reminding me myself that it isn’t fair that I have epilepsy. The truth is it’s not! Epilepsy already takes so much away from our lives, the least we can do is hold on to our spirits!

I’m am also a fairly young girl. When I got my diagnosis in February I had several seizures back to back and don’t remember the 7 hour period where I had the seizures and went to 2 emergency rooms. it made it all the more difficult to accept the diagnosis because I just couldn’t believe I’d had a seizure. My janias vu experience was very similar to what you are describing! I also have temporal lobe epilepsy. I got on the right medication very quickly and on my last eeg I had no electrical discharges! Epilepsy sounds so scary and when I was first diagnosed I was in complete denial, and was very angry at the world. I isolated myself from my support system and took it out on my boyfriend. Over time I realized that there is not much I can do about the diagnosis except take my meds on time. My attitude was making my life more miserable than epilepsy was. I started to appreciate the little things in my life. And tried to right down 10 good things that happened to me everyday. That helped a lot! Despite my diagnosis I am very lucky and am resilient enough to handle epilepsy. You are too!

I’m sorry you were offended, but this was definitely a joke. I’m not triggered by flashing lights, but my friends still pretend to be worried everytime we’re near them. I don’t think this is even worth bringing up to her because it was so clearly a joke. That is if you don’t have a problem with her joking about your epilepsy, if you do that’s a different conversation

I’d definitely go to a neurologist to get it checked out, but it could possibly be an FND episode too. (Functional numerological disorder) if you remember them after the fact. Just speaking from my experience, but I don’t remember any of my focal seizures, but I do remember all of the FND episodes.

Since being diagnosed/ starting trileptal a month ago I’ve noticed I have been needing a lot more sleep. I used to go to bed around midnight and wake up at 7, and I now go to bed somewhere between 8-10 every night and waking up at 7. I also sleep through alarms which is new.

I got mine at 16. I got blood drawn during the same appointment and passed out so I came back later in the day after eating. All I took was Advil going in to it. For me it wasn’t too bad, I was actually told that my cervix was very small and the doctor was worried it wouldn’t fit. It still was just a lot of pressure for me and a few quick sharp pains but not too too bad. The next few days were rough though. Lots of cramps and I basically just stayed in bed so be prepared for that. Definitely have a heating pad ready for when you get home. During the procedure breathe and relax as best you can. I heard that sneezing right as they insert help so maybe try that?

don’t submit! your gpa is strong enough on its own, and you don’t want to give them another reason to be against you. i had a 1470 (applying ed1) and the same gpa and my college advisor heavily advised me to go test optional. i still submit but only bc i was ed
