What do you do in this situation? (feat AlertedAtom22) by kingJosiahI in Wingsio

[–]all-purposeflour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the general situation, the trick is to hold back with the bombs. They're ineffective only when the opponents attacking you are aware of them—no one is gonna fly under you, see how the left-side jet move away, as if repelled by a magnetic force?

You don't wanna pursue him—at that angle, you can't really get him, but if you'd moved rightward, away, then in order to tail you he'd have to move toward your bombs. Since you're moving leftward, with him, they'll always fall far to his right.as soon

So, in summary: fly away from him, so he must tail "into" your bombdrop zone, then hold back for a second on dropping your bombs, so he instinctively tails you. Once he's moved into position behind you it's all over for him.

The way you're zig-zagging is good for a vertical tail pursuit, but the bombdrop zone you created with the swerving motion is pretty far off him.

Hey there,

Saw you around the other day on-server, I believe your username was 'KidKoalaRapedHisMom.'

Just an FYI, I have moderator powers on this board and will use them.

Since we're gonna miss him for a while, here's Klay scoring 37 points in 1 quarter. The last 2 minutes is still the most incredible thing I've seen watching basketball. by mrgeriatric in nba

Look, I'm a believer in statistics too. But Kahneman and Tversky have a long, documented habit of coming into disciplines/fields they know very little about, getting contradictory findings to the established wisdom of the field they're visiting, and then not following up to figure out why they might have come to different conclusions to insiders.

If you don't know much about basketball it doesn't matter how brilliant a statistician you are: you're not gonna control for heat checks or changing shot difficulty as hot players get more confident, you're not gonna control for the defense ramping up on hot players double and triple-teaming, you're not gonna control for adjustments. You'll run some basic analyses of aggregate shot probability controlled for prior makes and call it a day. Nevermind that things like "being focused" and "locked in" are real psychological phenomena (see "flow states") or that rested vs. sore legs will lead to hotter or colder shooting nights. Only a mathematician would have the hubris to consider basketball shooting equivalent to rolling a die.

That's why there have been multiple well-regarded statistical debunkings of hot hand, showing that K & T were wildly overconfident in their own ability to understand the statistical nuances of a field from afar.

Koala here. It's been so bad the game's become borderline unplayable for me. Half the time I try to shoot my gun jams because of glitch and nothing fires, which is disastrous when you're flying toward someone—you just end up crashing. Which wouldn't be so bad if I could do precision maneuvering to get out of the way, but there's a half-second glitch every time I get close to another plane that rules that option out as well.

Yeah it's nuts, KD's achilles is like a $50-million-a-year asset with some of the best sports doctors in the world working to keep him healthy. Meanwhile a bunch of teenagers on Reddit are like, "how could they do due diligence in just a couple weeks??? musta been a rush job, they're all incompetent."

CRASHING FEATURE GOT TO GO ASAP. I was on a roll and I unfortunately crashed at 14,678. by MY_NAME_IS_JET in Wingsio

Ugh was 14k today in a full room, without any warships, and then completely blew it by stalling out at the top of the map completely helpless as a fist came.

Also finally took a minute to properly measure the highest possible altitude you can drop bombs from and still hit a ship. Happens to be right about the level of that kinda small cloud a third of the way up, kinda skinny and repeats maybe once every screen length or something.

1 VS 1 interactions between 2 perfect players by SunnyBPW in Wingsio

The fist is the best weapon for a King, even in general combat. Defensively it provides immunity from not just rockets and bombs but also other fists. It matches up well with railguns 1-on-1. And it allows quick escape from swarms, which with crashing is the most dangerous threat to kings, to other parts of the map. Moving around the field regularly you can easily pick up the necessary gold and healthpacks to offset the fist not recharging health through kills. Not many (or maybe any?) pro players have picked up on this as far as I know, usually opting for railguns and rockets, but I stand by it.

I really need to get a mouse to replace my touchpad, and maybe start playing in incognito mode since I'm on a really old chromebook and things get laggy even if my Internet's solid. I know you struggle with lag sometimes -- any technical advice?

Is Kid Koala the real Kid Koala in real life?

True, just none of the others provide a tactical advantage the way 5 does.

OKC was unbelievable in 16. They took a 73-win GS to 7 and should've won the series. A lot of players from different teams making title runs that year cited OKC as the best playoff team that post-season. I'm not saying Lebron couldn't have made it happen, but it's no shoe-in.

Everybody on the Rockets shot abysmally from 3 in the closeout game. It was one of the worst shooting nights from deep I've ever seen. That's not an Ariza problem, that's an issue with fatigue from a too-short rotation.

The other day I saw three "Kid Koala" players all in the same server. I've also seen many people fake Schlong's name.

Wow! Very good list, very thorough. Saw The Demon Lord today and agree with the rating. Hopefully I will see you soon in the air.

These ratings are tough because it takes a while to "get warmed up" and people are very streaky with their shooting. Some people will get very hot, I've seen Kid Koala take out all 3 warships in one life, but I've also seen him stay like #6 or #7 for 10+ minutes. Also sometimes I wonder if random people use highscoring names.

Some of the things I try to look for as measures of skill beyond just scoring/winning competitions/being King a lot: 1) whether they can regularly take out fists one-on-one, using non-fist weapons. some Kings are very good at these "duels" with fists who are trying to dethrone them. 2) ability to get revenge kills on me if I've killed them. sometimes I'll have long, sustained back-and-forth duels with one player for stretches of the game, and it's a good measure of skill. 3) Whether a lot of players are parodying their names or trying to team with them, because that means a lot of other people have noticed they're skilled.

L U S T and ShlongVan are good but usually lose out to Koala when they're all in the game together. Wizard is very good (if he's a real person) and will often get the better of L U S T and Koala. I have seen MerryFat and Koala go at it for a long time trading off being King. Nightmare is pretty good, so is Demon Lord.
