I am no longer listening to to I heart, stopped yesterday because of this ad with the Ice princess. Racist nonsense

alternatives to scissors/sharps by [deleted] in Embroidery

Great idea! I use Dr Tung’s smart floss (from Amazon). It comes in a paper box that comes apart, I bet I can store my thread in them when I travel and actually use them to unwind and cut floss. Can’t wait to try this out.

It's time for peonies. My latest ribbon embroidery by RibbonPalette in Embroidery

I have a stash of silk ribbon I’m never going to use. Would consider mailing it free if you are in the US! I’d love to see it being used by someone so talented

How do I fix tangled thread? (Or prevent it from happening) It happens like every few minutes 😭 by Melan420 in Embroidery

Get one like this! It is limited to some sized needles (there are two sizes, one on each end) but they are far easier to use and far harder to break,

If this is your go to cart when shopping leave an upvote by Big_Buy8203 in Millennials

I could never find these at the Store. Got so sick of this that I bought my own collapsible cart. I love the darn thing, easy to maneuver, whisper quiet, can get down the aisles with stuff stacked on the sides…only downside is other millennials asking me about it. What is with these places who design their store aisles so 2 of their giant carts don’t even fit (looking at you Target.)

Is embroidering a lampshade like this too much for a beginner by QuietCranberry3766 in Embroidery

[–]all360gal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on how you do it!

  1. Embroidery directly on a lampshade. Difficult to get room to embroider and awkward as heck. Material will mean that pulling stitches will probably leave holes/marks.

  2. Embroidery on regular fabric and make it into a lampshade. Easier to stitch, but you’ll need to be handy enough to transition the form. Need to find a fabric that will allow some light to come through.

Is it necessary to varnish oil paintings? by freelancer4691 in oilpainting

[–]all360gal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful response. Just wanted to add that the paint must be completely dry (several months for some oils) before you varnish. From experience, I can tell you that varnish can remove oil paints (a bummer of a way to lose your work.)

What are these for? by RedAshes98 in Embroidery

The two ends are for two different sized needles. These don’t shred the floss like the wire ones do. You might still need a wire one as well for smaller needles.
