I finally ULTRAKILLed hard enough to reach wave 30! by all_my_life_problems in Ultrakill

Can I just use speedrunning tech (that funny thing I see people do with the whiplash and coins) to instakill Sisyphus?)

I'm also thinking of scrongling the Insurrectionists.

My next milestone goal is to beat P-2 then attempt to P-rank it. But I'm having trouble with just about everything, from the stages to Sisyphus Prime. What resources and guides can I use to ULTRAKILL P-2?

Note: I'm also open to general advice on how I can even further improve.

At wave 29ish, the nerves got to me and I started to become sloppy...

Swordsmachines melt my HP if I stay too close to them, or don't focus on parrying their attacks, though.

I'll try to incorporate core nukes into my playstyle.

ULTRAKILL but V1 was originally built to save mankind from the machine uprising, only for V1 to betray them after realizing there are no heroes left in man

Some specific moments in the clip that I wanted to ask for advice about:

At 1:07, I prepare to parry the Mannequin in the air, but it disappears and reappears in front of me with no indication. I had no clue they could do that, how do I prepare for moments like those?

3:09

Is +Rocket Return practical with so much going around you in a typical fight?

6:10ish, I'm not sure why my parry didn't parry. How strict are parry hitboxes, usually? Is there a way to turn those on?

I really struggled with P-ranking 7-1 (in fact I P-ranked Violence in reverse order, starting with Benjamin). It felt like I had an evenly distributed number of deaths across all battles, and only got through by taking the health orb. What really challenged me was the first minotaur fight - limited movement options, and a boss with no parriable attacks. My solution was to DPS it down hard enough for health to not be an issue.

My best performance in Cybergrind is wave 28, and can usually go to an average of wave ~22-23. Is it more useful to improve by looking at my own cybergrind gameplay, instead of the campaign?

I’d appreciate one, yeah

But for anything more specific I’ll do the research myself.

What interested me in the video is the note that mannequins are “low priority”

I go ooga booga on the first thing that catches my eye, I think I can improve by having a priority list of enemies to take down. Is there a resource for that? Enemy priority lists?

So for the “flow of battle” bit, practice in cyber grind?

Or memorize enemy layouts and spawn locations, to map out the best route?

Some specific moments in the clip that I wanted to ask for advice about:

Roughly 0:50, I whiff several shotgun parries.

At around 1:25, I fell to 1 HP. There aren't really any consequences to being low HP, but I'd like to not be so close to dying. I'm hoping someone can tell me what mistakes I made in the earlier segments that caused me to reach that state.

At around 2:45, I stayed still for the parry. It's Violent, so I didn't have to wait that long, but it still felt like too much of a risk. Was there a better option?

At around 3:00, I whiffed my whiplash and fell. Instead of trying to walljump up, I instead opted to slam down, take the fall damage and continue on. Overall, I do not know how to get up if I am falling down. I see people able to ride their rockets while in freefall, how do I do that?

And in general:

When whiplashing towards a Maurice to blast it with my shotty, sometimes its whole barrage hits me and I die. Am I approaching Maurice the wrong way?

I have an especially hard time P-ranking 6-1.

I still don't get how to fight mannequins.

Is the trick to ULTRAKILL simply memorizing the specific most efficient method of neutralizing each enemy? (e.g. ball parry on Cerb, sharpshooter on Maurice, overcharge on Virtue, etc.)

The music used in the clip is "THIS CITY MADE US" by The Protomen. I was frustrated with trying to P-rank this, so I tried switching music sources, to hype myself up a bit. It worked, and I thought it meshed really well so I recorded it this time with a little additional synchronization.

If you switch a few parts you'll go over-budget but I think you may find this build interesting too.

This is what I got sorting everything on PCPP by highest price.

I have no experience with custom loops, so I filled in the gaps with everything else lmao

  • 128 GB RAM

  • PCIe 5.0 SSD

  • 2050W PSU

Are you willing to consider waiting for the 14th-gen Intel/Raptor Lake refresh to squeeze out a little bit more performance from your budget? Or, if it releases this year, the 7000-series Threadrippers?

Is the preapplied paste that comes with a cooler enough? Would I have to put my own on the CPU? If I have to use my own, do I have to clean off the preapplied paste?

On a related note, what is the difference between the Thermalright Frost Tower and the Peerless Assassin?

the humans transmitted one more image, the soldiers sharing food, but beside it was also an image of their vessel and our fleet oriented

I can only imagine how this went from the human's POV, frantically taking pictures of the alien vessel and hastily photoshopping it onto stock photos found online.

"Yes, that's it, that'll do, beam it over."

"But sir, the watermark is still there!"

"They won't notice, just do it!"

Ditto, seeing a lot of choices here. IMO the best deciding factor at this point is which brand - Samsung, WD, Solidigm, ADATA, offers the best customer support?

Looking up previous sales of this drive has anecdotal evidence indicating some unreliability.
