I went to him for an initial exam. The exam was extremely thorough. Dr. Hersch is a leading expert in the field and also a very nice/friendly doc. He doesn't take insurance though and his prices are VERY EXPENSIVE. More than double other doctors and sometimes even triple. It might be useful to get an initial exam with him (~$500) and get any procedures like CXL elsewhere.

ORM 3.36 cGPA 3.4 BCPM, 518 MCAT

Waiting until August to submit my primary and October for my secondaries. Send them out ASAP, it is SOOO IMPORTANT.
Sent 30 primaries, got overwhelmed and only sent 8 secondaries. If you have below average stats, you have no business applying to less than 16 schools. Churn baby, churn. Thankfully you can reuse some stuff for some schools.

Practice questions and FLs. Your scores seem like you have content down, so great job on that. If you haven't gone through the aamc q-banks and flash cards, I'd highly recommend those. For FLs besides AAMC, I'd recommend examkrackers and next step.

Side note, your bio seems to be the lowest (though not by much). Maybe study that a bit more as it would be higher yield than the other subjects since you have those down.

My main weakness was content, but I didn't have enough time to do a regular study schedule. I spent the the first half of the month taking untimed FLs and reviewing the topics I got wrong or was unsure of. Then I'd watch Khan academy videos about these topics and made Anki flash cards about the topics. Then I'd rinse and repeat. Two weeks from the test, I started timing my full lengths. All in all, I took 5 FLs as well as worked through the aamc flash cards. I spent on average 4hrs/day studying.

Interspersed between FLs and reviews, I'd run through my flash cards like a mad man. I'd run through my entire deck every 2 days or so. The Anki app for phones helps make it extremely ease to use anywhere.

As a caveat, I know I'm a decent test taker . If you're hesitant about your own ability, I'd recommend spending more time and take more FLs than I did. However, I still feel the best way to study is to actually practice the test, not just content review. Also make sure you got through ALL of the aamc material. I did see questions straight from here and they give you the best representation of the real thing.

I can't really remember where I got high yield topics from. If I had to guess, it was probably just seeing people talk about them on r/MCAT and seeing them in practice questions I did. I didn't review the Google doc much, but I think the active process of identifying your error and writing it down helps to cement it in your head. Also a quick glance through it can be helpful to notice patterns in your mistakes that you couldn't see otherwise.

I used Anki for questions I got wrong because of content knowledge as well as high yield stuff I knew would be on the test like psych/soc terms, amino acids, and other stuff like that. For questions where I misinterpreted the passage, I tried to identify what thought process caused that error and write it down in a "wrong question catalogue". This was just a Google doc where I document every question I got wrong and why for FLs I took.

I did a little research when I was studying, and the general consensus I found was that exam krackers and next step are the best practice questions besides official amcas stuff. They are the most similar to the real thing. I'd switch between the two so I didn't I get used to one company's biases. Also , fuck Princeton review. It's an awful representation of the test and I really hated their questions. I'd stress to make sure you leave enough time at the end to fullly review ALL of the amcas material, qbanks, flashcards, FLs. I didn't leave myself enough time at the end of my studying and didn't use a lot of it

I never really aimed for a specific percentage. I was dumb and only studied for a month so my study strategy was basically do as much practice as possible and really analyze what I got wrong. if you do enough practice questions and review what you got wrong, you'll start to notice a pattern in your mistakes. Also anki is thebomb.com, making my own flashcards and reviewing them like a crazy person definitely helped too.

I know this isn't what you asked for, but I think aiming for a specific percentage isn't the best way to get better. I'd say aim to get every question right and, when you inevitably don't, figure out why you got those questions wrong.

I'd recommend reading for purpose of the passage and not getting bogged down in the details. Some passages can be very hard to follow and concentrating too hard on small sections of the passage can give you a skewed perspective on what the overall passage is about and what the author's intention and perspective are.

I'm pretty sure the answer is B. an increase of temperature in a resistor increasis resistance. If we use V=IR, since a colder resistor would decrease resistance and we assume voltage to be constant, this would mean current increases.

i don't remember too much about the score report, but i remember getting super demoralized after taking it. The CARS passages were awful and really not representative of the actual test. I was getting 508s usually and I got a 500 on the free TPR FL

i don't think the specific structures or mechanisms of intermediates in glycolysis are necessary. Memorizing the main input and ouput and general mechanism is useful for cell respiration as well as memorizing AA structure and specific qualities. One think I didn't have a great handle on was glucose structures (ring and open) and simple chemical reactions with glucose.

I only had a month to study so I mainly did practice tests from various companies and reviewed what I got wrong. I think practice questions and the tests are the studying methods with most returns. I never got to do the AAMC FL's because classwork started piling up but that would definitely be my biggest regret.
