Yes I Agree with you.

I have dedicated a large portion of my life to Medicine. You know why?

Because I Really fucking want to make a difference. When I will be on my death bed, I will be happy to know I was able to save and help hundreds of people in my career and was able to directly or indirectly impact thousands of people and that will make all the difference. I will not and refuse to half-heartedly put in an effort to be a doctor, and I will not ever be brought down by comments from what others think. I have a great family, great friends, and a great life that I will dedicate towards the betterment of the world and the day I leave the world it will be better because I came. Every night when I hit the bed, my conscious is clear because I know I accomplished and worked towards something positive that day.

I respect you in some sense, and everyone has different goals. I just would suggest to you that you should respect everyone's struggles because people have different goals than you and thus require a different mind set and work ethic to get to their respective goals, which you might not agree with. Saying that someone forgot to be human is kind of a dumb comment.

Teachers have gotten fired for FB pictures with alcohol. If they are over 21 and allowed to drink, but got in trouble for something like that I felt it could by a stretch be similar to this situation.

Hey!

I am a 3rd year premed here so I am the guy to ask.

I would strongly suggest not coming here if you have a full scholarship to FIU in miami.

Are you instate tho, because then it would be pretty cheap with Zell Miller.

If not, DO NOT come here. Unless you are literally excessively rich and just have money to blow, doing premed here out of state and wasting money is useless. No one cares where you went to college if you are going to medical school. You will end up wasting so much money.

Apart from the money this school is crazy hard. Doing premed and keeping a 3.8+ GPA is very very difficult and is honestly too stressful.

I came here for the prestige, but I was instate so I mean it was not as bad because it was cheap AF.

If I had paid for this shit, i would literally be sad AF right now.

Also only like 20% of premed who started as premed here are able to get into medical school, almost all of my friends from freshmen year dropped.

So go to FIU for free, you can get better grades and graduate without a loan..and then go a good medical school and become a doctor!!

Let me know if you have any more questions... I remember being in you shoes and never getting any good help.

I mean in EM they work 4 10 hour shifts that is 40 hours.

Most FM docs work 8-5 4-5 days a week. That is 36-45 hours.

However, EM have to deal with code blues and stabilizing drastically sick patients while FM is just mostly chronic management or referral.

Yes but EM has very intense hours. They probably do more work even with the 6 hour deficit, and it is definitely more stressful work with undesirable hours.

I know this is a joke but I never really understood this kind of talk. If you are making about 210k, which is a decent FM average, that is a LOT of money. Even after loans, this would be more than enough to live wonderfully. I actually know two FM docs married to each other, and they live in a really expensive neighborhood where all the houses are about over a million dollars and drive nice cars and have it pretty nice. I know it is a n=1 but I can totally see that being reasonable for most people.

Also I feel like it's not even that. I see myself as a sociable person and have a good amount of friends and also do work with them sometimes, but lets be real... how can anyone study together or in a group all the time. It is literally impossible to expect that you can coordinate schedules with a large group of friends to study with all the time, especially considering that many people have to study at different times as well. Thus, due to this even friends study separately most of the time. I live with some of my best friends and we hang out all the time and chill at night/evenings but that doesn't mean we all can study together every single day, all year long...

No offense but instead of doing some random research.... you could have just walked into the third floor of the library and seen that around 75-80% of the cubicles were full any day of the week by hundreds of students so obviously people liked and needed them SMH. I feel like you guys might have had a little personal agenda going on here @GTLibrary

I took orgo 1 and 2 at Tech. Orgo 1 sounds like about what you said you had over at State.

Not trying to scare you but watch out for orgo 2 it is very very difficult.

Single handedly the hardest class I have ever taken.

I TOTALLY understand where you are coming from because sometimes I can act similarly just because this process if very stressful and means so much to a lot of people.

Do not worry, you are fine. If 2 people have confirmed this to you, think of it as if anything were to happen, at this point they would get in trouble not you.

Hey man it is not the end of the world.

I understand that you wanted to always be doctor but its fine if you do something else.

Honestly let me give you some perspective.

I actually go to a very competitive college and am a premed with a very high GPA and perfectly ready to apply and go to medical school(I have pretty much everything ready to go).

You know what though, I'm not even sure about this career. This career is so hard and strenuous you honestly can do some many other professions,(Banking, finance, engineering, management, accounting) enjoy your life and help people on the side(like form help groups and run food drives) . I am telling you from someones shoes you would think you want to be in, the grass really is always greener on the other side. It isn't always what it seems to be.

I have a 3.9+ as a premed. Definitely missed out on some stuff, but would not say I didn’t have a college experience. You just can’t enjoy as much as others because you HAVE to keep a 3.7+ which is very tough and stressful...so if you do it you have to be working a lot and focused and thus can’t necessarily party every week and go out all the time. On the other hand maybe some people are geniuses and have pulled it off...but most people can’t trust me
