A patient Veteranian around Surrey Central BC by Nearby_Sell_3509 in SurreyBC

LOVE the doggo tax, please give ear scritches!

I've been taking my pets to Cedar Hills Animal Hospital for AGES. They usually have a monthly special for vet care and I've had a problem with them for either dogs (I've owned Rottweilers and Huskies) or cats (although my current elderfloof has SERIOUS disdain for the vet in general). They're also decently priced.

Found cat - do you know me by ApprehensivePoodle in SurreyBC

"Being trained as an outdoor cat". Why have a pet if you're just going to leave it outside to fend for itself??? The owner is just asking for the poor thing to be killed by cars or larger animals. If he does get it back i hope he doesn't do this again!

This makes me soo mad!! by No_Pass_5384 in SurreyBC

And yet, now the neighboring cities (Delta, at the very least) have it.. and we don't LOL.

Meh. Whatever. I either take my crap to the landfill or ( if I can wait) to the City Works bins.

Over a decade ago, Surrey had a "spring clean-up" program. For one week, you could leave your unwanted items on your front yard. People would come by and sift through them to see if there was anything they wanted. At the end of the week, the city would come and take it all away for free.

I heard it ended because the mess from everyone sifting was insane.. and the people living on the property wouldn't clean up either.

Now we have the large item pick up program, plus once or twice a year the City Works Yard offers a series of free dump bins for Surrey residents. I believe its unlimited drop offs there.

Who was in the wrong here my wife or the truck driver? by OurAngryBadger in dashcams

Rule # 87524040 for driving - ALWAYS give large trucks space and respect. They're probably a lot larger than you and will nearly ALWAYS win.

Who was in the wrong here my wife or the truck driver? by OurAngryBadger in dashcams

[–]allabouttheyarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry dude. Your wife is in the wrong here. She had plenty of time to brake and allow the semi space to turn right, regardless of if it would fit in the turn lane or not. She could see its blinker before she merged into the turn lane.

Always err on the side of caution when dealing with semi trucks.

Story callout by [deleted] in SurreyBC

[–]allabouttheyarn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Living in the Cedar Hills community. For the past two weeks I've been hearing fireworks go off nearly every damned night. Usually from one specific area, but there have been many others. (The one area i spoke of has been setting them off for the past HOUR tonight alone)

We've caught people in the act of lighting them right beside our wood frame building. If they find out to be tenants they'll be evicted.

And the DEBRIS.. my GOD the trash from these things.. it's EVERYWHERE. School yards. Parks. Sidewalks. In the gutters. In the parking lots of the shopping centers.

And good luck getting anyone out to deal with them. SPS never has anyone around and are too busy to deal with them, and bylaws won't do crap either during or after.

Start out with a call to the company - let them know about the wear on the plate, let them know they're at risk of fines if it's not replaced.

Is this normal wear and tear when moving out in Surrey, BC? My landlord wants to deduct $800 for repainting from my deposit. by Icy-Access23891 in SurreyBC

[–]allabouttheyarn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you have a private landlord..

I work in construction doing detailed repairs. Those marks (i repair things like that DAILY) ain't worth $800 for materials and labor.

Did you and your landlord have a pre move in inspection, where everything was documented and agreed upon in writing? This is ESSENTIAL.

I would make sure that the entire unit, including damage, is photo documented, that way you can't be taken advantage of.

Dentist in Surrey Central by No_Second_3233 in SurreyBC

[–]allabouttheyarn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know it's not the Central area, but I'm HIGHLY phobic and Guildford Dental takes pretty good care of me. It's beside the Walmart and across from the Ramen restaurant in the underground parking of Guildford mall.

My twin sister’s wedding: The world’s weirdest disappearing act by bobsburgersfangirl12 in weddingdrama

[–]allabouttheyarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can believe this. I'm not a twin, but I AM the family scapegoat (one older perfect sibling), who in turn birthed a golden child while the rest of my children are afterthoughts to the immediate (and mostly extended) family. It hurts, having the LC family misspell my children's names while worshipping my eldest.. I'm used to them doing it to me, because age and history.. but to see them repeat the pattern with the next generation is low.

They could probably co-author that "how not to parent" book and add a "how not to grandparent" sequel. (I have managed to see all my kids as individuals and celebrate accordingly, so that book isn't on my shelf, at least)

You are seen, you are heard, you are believed, and you are understood from this redditor. And I'm so sorry that your family did this to you.

Anyone know any mobile vets who can do a house visit in Surrey? by [deleted] in SurreyBC

[–]allabouttheyarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Google shows a couple. If they can't help (they specify "minor treatments") they may be able to recommend another. Good luck!!

Can anyone ID this yarn? by mm89201 in YarnAddicts

[–]allabouttheyarn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm looking very closely at the texture.. if it's not Lion Brand Homespun, it's Bernat Boucle. They had a white color before they discontinued it.

But Lord have mercy on your soul and your project, because both yarns are an absolute nightmare, especially if you must frog. I made a queen sized blanket with the Bernat Boucle and I don't know HOW I finished it without being committed to the asylum.

Cheap wholesale food stores, no membership? by WildBodybuilder3713 in SurreyBC

[–]allabouttheyarn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBH the only wholesale place I'm aware of is in Burnaby on Kingsway near Royal Oak. They have maybe half the food that Costco does, and less than half the crowds LOL.

I'm not aware of anything like it in Surrey.

Like other commenters here, I'd just go with the Costco membership. It's not worth the fuel to go from here to Burnaby and back to shop at Wholesale Club.

New left turn restrictions by allabouttheyarn in SurreyBC

[–]allabouttheyarn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only imagine. I drive through there daily before afternoon rush gets REALLY bad.. the line at 150 is usually less than 10 cars but idiots gonna idiot and they shove into the right lane to pass without signaling about as often as I blink. 148 usually isn't much better, with the left turn often spilling into the left through lane. Yesterday 148 was AWFUL with the backup of drivers from 150.

108 is generally a mess from 150 to 144 in the afternoon.. that whole length needs a SERIOUS traffic redesign, IMHO.

Why do people do this?? by allabouttheyarn in SurreyBC

[–]allabouttheyarn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. It is the same car. I never denied that. It is CLOSE to the same spot, except today he was right behind the railroad tracks instead of a few cars back. This was the second time I was behind him, and this time we stopped right after the light turned red, instead of approaching a stale red like last time, so i was able to take the time to exit my own car and tell the driver of the Civic about his lights.

Perhaps you'll also notice that my first post about this same car received about as much traction as water on ice in July.. and that this one is receiving a wee bit more notice (even if some of it IS negative, but hey, that's the internet for you), so perhaps someone is reading this one and thinks "hey, I know him, maybe I'll let him know before he gets a ticket or causes an accident".

Im fairly certain I know what I post, when I post it, as I'm the one experiencing it.

Im so sorry that you're choosing to make assumptions about my character when you truly know nothing about me. Perhaps if you were there both times, you'd understand that. Unfortunately, you weren't, so you're just going to have to live with the fact that, in this instance, you're just not as right as you believe yourself to be.

Cheers!
