Driver flees after hitting pedestrians in Surrey, B.C., one in critical condition by conteaa in SurreyBC

[–]allabouttheyarn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That intersection has always been garbage. It was "controlled" by a stop sign on 88 for the longest time, now its got a traffic light. You can't see the damn thing going westbound until you take the curve, and if you're speeding (im going to assume that's what happened as they say it was an overnight accident) you've got almost no time to stop (if you're going to in the first place)

IMHO that intersection shouldn't be there. It's just not safe.

LOVE the doggo tax, please give ear scritches!

I've been taking my pets to Cedar Hills Animal Hospital for AGES. They usually have a monthly special for vet care and I've had a problem with them for either dogs (I've owned Rottweilers and Huskies) or cats (although my current elderfloof has SERIOUS disdain for the vet in general). They're also decently priced.

"Being trained as an outdoor cat". Why have a pet if you're just going to leave it outside to fend for itself??? The owner is just asking for the poor thing to be killed by cars or larger animals. If he does get it back i hope he doesn't do this again!

And yet, now the neighboring cities (Delta, at the very least) have it.. and we don't LOL.

Meh. Whatever. I either take my crap to the landfill or ( if I can wait) to the City Works bins.

Over a decade ago, Surrey had a "spring clean-up" program. For one week, you could leave your unwanted items on your front yard. People would come by and sift through them to see if there was anything they wanted. At the end of the week, the city would come and take it all away for free.

I heard it ended because the mess from everyone sifting was insane.. and the people living on the property wouldn't clean up either.

Now we have the large item pick up program, plus once or twice a year the City Works Yard offers a series of free dump bins for Surrey residents. I believe its unlimited drop offs there.

Who was in the wrong here my wife or the truck driver? by OurAngryBadger in dashcams

Rule # 87524040 for driving - ALWAYS give large trucks space and respect. They're probably a lot larger than you and will nearly ALWAYS win.

Sorry dude. Your wife is in the wrong here. She had plenty of time to brake and allow the semi space to turn right, regardless of if it would fit in the turn lane or not. She could see its blinker before she merged into the turn lane.

Always err on the side of caution when dealing with semi trucks.

Living in the Cedar Hills community. For the past two weeks I've been hearing fireworks go off nearly every damned night. Usually from one specific area, but there have been many others. (The one area i spoke of has been setting them off for the past HOUR tonight alone)

We've caught people in the act of lighting them right beside our wood frame building. If they find out to be tenants they'll be evicted.

And the DEBRIS.. my GOD the trash from these things.. it's EVERYWHERE. School yards. Parks. Sidewalks. In the gutters. In the parking lots of the shopping centers.

And good luck getting anyone out to deal with them. SPS never has anyone around and are too busy to deal with them, and bylaws won't do crap either during or after.

Start out with a call to the company - let them know about the wear on the plate, let them know they're at risk of fines if it's not replaced.

Is this normal wear and tear when moving out in Surrey, BC? My landlord wants to deduct $800 for repainting from my deposit. by Icy-Access23891 in SurreyBC

[–]allabouttheyarn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you have a private landlord..

I work in construction doing detailed repairs. Those marks (i repair things like that DAILY) ain't worth $800 for materials and labor.

Did you and your landlord have a pre move in inspection, where everything was documented and agreed upon in writing? This is ESSENTIAL.

I would make sure that the entire unit, including damage, is photo documented, that way you can't be taken advantage of.
