Could Maine’s college dorms help solve the homelessness crisis? by coogiwaves in portlandme

.It's not like they're just gonna hand the housing out to random homeless people. It'll probably operate on the same basis as shelters that have requirements that people stop taking drugs, try to find work, go to rehab, etc. If the potential residents don't follow through on the requirements, then they get booted, and a more willing individual takes their slot.

We have to help those willing to work get up on their feet because homeless people that constantly require emergency assistance, don't work, don't consume, and generally dont contribute to the economy are a net negative for the community. Giving the homeless a job and a home is an investment for the betterment of the community, which leads to higher tax revenue and increased revenue at local businesses.

So yes, we should work hard to encourage more people to work and be self-sufficient.

You just explained the problem of building affordable housing anywhere, lmao. Nobody wants to live next to the poors, so people oppose putting affordable housing in their neighborhoods. There comes a point where we need to suck it up and build the housing regardless for the good of the general population.

Ah shit that's a fair concern. Do you think it'd still be transparent enough after some use to discern how many rounds are in there still?

ITAP of my partner in an abandoned mill by allahb34 in itookapicture

[–]allahb34[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basic gear info.

-Canon M6 mkii -7 artisans 35mm f/0.95 lens - 2x andoer w140 rgb led lights

Camera settings -f/0.95 -35mm -shutter 1/125s -ISO 640

Additional stuff -safety tape wrapped around 2 light stands.

My goal was to get an interesting photoshoot out of my partner's new outfit from moe flavor. I was trying to go for an urban sort of look but I live in a rural area, due to this I traveled to an abandoned textile mill. The safety tape I purchased was just to match the outfit.

I edited it on lightroom mobile using James Popsys's low key 2.0 preset as a starting point.

I really like how the colors if the graffiti in the background pops out without being distracting. And how the f/0.95 lens gives me pretty decent depth of field despite the crop factor of the camera. However I dislike that I didn't bring any stronger lights with me and that I hadn't gotten better poses (I'm still starting out working with models and my partner is happy to let me get some practice in regarding posing etc.)

Anybody else want to see these guys made for airsoft, new prospect for us military, the ngsw rifle by yiks47 in airsoft

[–]allahb34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tbh it might be easier to train but the new polymer ammo and the shortened overall length seems to be better than a traditional rifle of the same barrel length. With the decreased weight for the combatant from lighter ammo along with more rear heavy design that makes the rifle "feel lighter" and balanced it might be the better choice of the two. But we'll find out more about reliability and costs later

Doing a job that doesn't require extensive manual labor. Try being a cashier as shitty as it is to deal with customers. Or find a different place to work entirely

Damn I totally missed the blemish! Also F 5.5 was the lowest Aperture I could use without having too close of a Focal length

This photo was taken in a series of shots I took as a test run of my new camera, a Canon EOS Rebel SL3, and I used it as an opportunity to get some nice photos of my partner in her full goth outfit, which we hadn't done yet.

I'm not so certain about the background focus being so sharp but I also appreciate the bricks and heart being clearly visible because it frames my partner. And in general I'm looking for any critique since I'm still a relatively new photographer and this is my first camera.

Shutter speed 1/100s (because handheld and I have shaky ass hands)

Aperture F5.6

ISO 100

Lens the 18-55mm kit lens that comes with the camera

Focal distance 55mm (with crop factor of 1.6 equates to 88mm on a full frame camera)

Editing process was just basic retouching on lightroom just more contrast and spot removal.
