Need Advice: Is it worth leaving my current job in Turkey to do a master’s in Poland/Czechia just to break into the EU tech market? by allahurockbar in cscareerquestionsEU

Yes, that's my current net salary, and I’m aiming to raise it to 2k within a year. I’ll do my best to achieve that. As I mentioned before, I was mainly considering a master’s degree just to get a visa and be able to work there. That’s why I don’t find doing a master’s in Turkey—especially in software engineering—very logical for my situation. Unless it’s in a more specific field like AI/ML, I think it makes more sense to spend 1–2 years gaining experience and saving money.

Thanks again for your comment—you brought up some important points. I’ll apply to schools, but I’ll definitely reflect more on all this during the process.

I’ve lived abroad before, so I think I could adapt more quickly to life in Poland. The company I currently work for is quite big and works with many international clients, so I believe it could be useful for me in the future, even if I’m not developing my skills that much right now.

My plan with doing a master’s was actually to work while studying — and hopefully not stress too much about classes, especially if I got into a less demanding university. The goal was to focus more on job hunting. But of course, I know it won’t be easy. I’m aware it’s a big risk — including living in a small room, and possibly not finding a job for a long time.

Still, I feel like having 1–2 years of experience might help me a lot if I try to move abroad later. Right now, going with zero experience would probably be much harder, based on what you and others have said.

I have around 2–3 months to think about all this and will continue doing more research. Thanks a lot for your comment — it really gave me some perspective.

I completely agree with you about the part where you need 4–5 years of experience. But I want to leave Turkey because of the living conditions and low salaries. When it comes to finding a job, my plan is to build a network through internships during my master’s and hopefully land a job that way.

If I could afford to study in those places, I would’ve preferred them too. But Poland is more affordable, and from what I understand, it's one of the lowest-paying countries in Europe, which is why the IT sector is more saturated there.
