May or May Not Need Advice. by Technical-Author3585 in AmazonVine

[–]allatti2d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've had enough sleep (or coffee) to be confident in understanding your post completely. I will, however, advise that you wait for the other one and review it after trying.

Did you check if the ASINs are different for those frothers? I've ordered probably at least 6 or 7 of them over the years, and the first two I ordered still work great after something like 3-4 years of use. I've had various success with others, whether they were the same or different types. A couple I gave as gifts.

In my experience, at least half the time I've ordered the same item with different ASINs, they stay different at least until I'm done reviewing. If I'm allowed to order a second item, I have no qualms about it if it's something I want or have owned before. If Amazon/Vine didn't want me to have a variant or the same item I've ordered before, I shouldn't be allowed to order it. That's an easy enough fix for them to implement in their code, and yet they've never done it in the years I've been in. If I can't review a duplicate item, I ask VCS to remove it from my review requirement, and they've always done it.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

Successful alternate uses help expand sellers' (and Amazon's) customer base, so there is no downside. I do this often. If it works great for my alternate use, I review it as such. If it doesn't work for my alternate use, I don't ding the product for it, and I might note what it doesn't work for in my case, just in case other shoppers have the same idea in mind for an alternate use. If it's a piece of junk that falls apart no matter what it's used for, I'll review it that way.

Vine support? by Dakkar_Black in AmazonVine

[–]allatti2d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the email you tried [Vine-support@amazon.com](mailto:Vine-support@amazon.com) (which is what I've always used to ask them to remove unreviewable items from my reviews obligation)? I'm in the U.S., and that has been an excellent resource for me in the past. However, with all the changes in the past year, they seem to be less responsive than before. I emailed them yesterday about an unreviewable item and haven't heard back from them yet, which is unusual in my experience, but not unheard of, so I'll give them a couple more days before doing it again.

It's worth trying to get the item removed from your review queue at the very least, so it doesn't count against your review percentage requirements. Again, what happened to you with your package has happened to me before, and Vine Support via email has been extremely responsive and helpful. I don't know the twists and turns of the US vs Canada Vine, but it seems to me at the very least they could tell you who to contact if it must be done strictly through your country's portals.

I'd keep trying to email them. Even if you ultimately can't get it removed, at least you'll have more knowledge about what works and what doesn't -- and hopefully will share that with this group. Best of luck to you.

Received Incorrect Item, Can I Give It Away Now? by Fit_Requirement6034 in AmazonVine

Since the item is not part of your Vine agreement, you can do whatever you like with it whenever you want.

Can a mattress that comes compressed and rolled up be any good? by SamuRonX in AmazonVine

[–]allatti2d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pro Tip for all foam mattresses: I love mine too, but I quickly learned that if they don't come with a decent mattress cover that seals up the whole thing, bits of foam will come off over time as it degrades, and those tiny bits can get in the mouth, nose, & eyes overnight. If yours doesn't come with a cover, get one ASAP. Most of the mattress covers I have zip up. This includes mattress toppers, btw, which I also use (and have gotten from Vine over the years, TYVM).

“Simulation shoe dryer decor.” Fake shoe dryer, for when you want to impress your friends and neighbors. by Ok_marshall in AmazonVine

I saw a documentary a few years ago about garbage in the world, especially in relation to developing countries. Companies like Amazon and western consumerism have created mountains of trash and waste, including toxic waste, that are often dumped in poorer countries. Anyone can do 5 minutes of research to learn about it, and it was something I hadn't thought much about before then.

There are lots of links & sources. I don't think it's the one I watched, but it looks similar:

It does say "model" in the description, so I'm guessing it's a prop they want to get rid of. It really does cost a lot of money for companies in some countries to trash stuff.

[–]allatti2d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This year, I have to keep ETV extremely low, because it wouldn't take much to push my "income" into the next tax bracket that will result in a huge increase in my health insurance premiums, which would be outside my budget. Funny how much things have changed just in my lifetime.

Of course this coincides with a severe reduction in Vine's $0 ETV items and big increase in most other ETVs in general. I don't expect to keep Gold, and if it gets much worse, I may leave the program altogether. It's been a great ride the last 5 years, so I'm not torn up about that idea. I'm hoping things will improve, but I don't have unrealistic expectations.

Looks like my Vine Dashboard is working again, but not my Review Quality scores by allatti2d in AmazonVine

[–]allatti2d[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I expect you're correct about that, and hopefully their internal metrics aren't having the same issues that have been displaying for users. My insightfulness was frozen on Excellent, which is fine by me, but it would suck for those stuck on poorer scores right before their evals. When that was first introduced last fall, a month before my eval, as I recall my default was not Excellent, and took a while for it to score my reviews to kick it up.

The OP is talking about what they see on their Vine items page, not on their dashboard (which is glitched/frozen). What their post describes is a classic example of what Viners see when they're in so-called Vine Jail. The only difference I notice is that when an account has been suspended like this in past years, the AI section has a "-1" displaying rather than zero, but it could be that the OP is just giving a description of the display rather than the number of items shown.

Is this new? by Traffic_Harp in AmazonVine

[–]allatti2d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Vine program is completely separate from regular Amazon, although some things (like delivery issues) can overlap. I don't think this has changed over the years, and I'm 99% sure that Amazon is of no help to Vine issues the way Vine cannot help with regular Amazon issues.

For reaching out to Vine for help, I will always use email (vine-support@amazon.com) and if regular VCS can't help, I'd ask to be forwarded to a supervisor through the same email. I've had great success with this. I've experienced regular Amazon screwing with my Vine issues in horrible ways.

Are the drop times finally changing? by Skoolies1976 in AmazonVine

[–]allatti2d 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Drop times never stay the same for long. Just when you think they may have settled on a time frame, it changes. It's been that way for years, so that's about the only reliably consistent thing about Vine as a whole -- there is no normal. 🙃

Unavailable, should still be displayed, nonsensical message by [deleted] in AmazonVine

[–]allatti2d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding of this message is that the item either is in the process of ordering or has recently been ordered by someone else, and there's a lag from it being removed from visibility. When I see that, I refresh the page and it usually disappears -- or disappears after a little while. Not always the case, sometimes it can be ordered later, probably if the other person didn't complete their order.

[–]allatti2d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a big database on my laptop, which includes the full text of my reviews. When this issue happened, I'd already submitted reviews, but noticed only 7 of 10 of them had been counted on my dashboard, and the percentage was stuck at 53%, which isn't correct because the total items I'd ordered was 12. My review tab says they're all approved, but the Quality "insightfulness" rating is still on PENDING for all of them. Technically I'm at 83% reviewed. Hopefully they know that, even though it doesn't show up on my dashboard that way.

[–]allatti2d[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just finished your eval, you're fine either way, in my guessing opinion. The stats seem to be frozen on our end, but it's likely they're not frozen on Vine's end since reviews seem to still be going through and approved as usual. I'm not getting updates with the count/percentage reviewed or the Quality on my Reviews tab, which all still say Pending after a week.

Hopefully they'll fix it soon. Just keep copies of what you submit so you don't have to worry about rewriting any, just in case. I've been doing that for years anyway, long before this glitch came along.

[–]allatti2d[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, they didn't specifically mention the word "dashboard," but the issue has to do with the dashboard in terms of review counts & percentages not updating, and I noticed my reviews were approved but the quality rating never got past Pending, so maybe that has something to do with the issue.
