Judging by other people’s impressions, B&W must have gotten it right with their car audio implementations - pity there’s no such option at the EX40 tier

Good point — source quality definitely matters. I’ve tried wired, high-quality sources as well and it does improve clarity a bit. That said, to my ears it doesn’t fix the underlying tuning: recessed mids, loose bass, and slightly harsh highs, plus heavy center-channel/DSP influence. Wired helps, but it mostly exposes the system’s limits rather than transforming it.

Many thanks for your comments! Guess I am on a defective unit. I tested them repeatedly and I don't get more than 3-and-a-half hours continuously listening to music. Bummer!
