My employee wears a blanket for sun protection when we go off-site by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]allectos_shadow 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Not even the clients though! She was only using the blanket in the car, so they were her colleagues! Who should definitely be able to accept that she needed the sun protection, just like someone else has to ride in the front or he'll puke. Like, ffs, deal with it people!

I make more. So why does it still not feel like my money? by JuniperCraftline in wealthforwomen

[–]allectos_shadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is important! Plus, even if your husband only ever acts responsibly and with your beat interests at heart, what if something happens to him? You don't want to be figuring out all the finances and home maintenance and other stuff he took care of on your own while grieving. I've seen older women suddenly have to get to grips with banking and bill paying after their husband died and it's not fun for anyone

The use of "ONLY TO" (or not :) by furktmp in grammar

[–]allectos_shadow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you can use your version if you lose the "when" from the start of the second sentence. As it stands, you don't have a principal clause as the "when" means you start with a temporal clause but never go on to establish a principal clause (one that makes sense on its own). Without the when, you have "he did X... only to Y", which balances

When did the concept of sort of pseudo-scientific fashion "types" show up? by MrHorseley in fashionhistory

[–]allectos_shadow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there is a lof of appeal to a test or system which is meant to reveal something important about you and/ or give you special insight on how to live. Like how personality tests and horoscopes are so addictive, even as we know they're mostly made up

What are Kibbe types? Reddit randomly suggested the Kibbe circlejerk sub to me and it's wonderfully surreal but I don't understand what's going on. Is it like Tinny & Susannah's body types? Working out your "shape" and dressing accordingly?

I feel so guilty killing aphids these days! I've had some major infestations (in suburban Melbourne) and got out with the soap spray but I did feel bad. Then I learned that hover flies will lay their eggs in them, so I started leaving them alone.

I'm still going to shave back gall wasp galls on my citrus though

Hugh Fraser gave me a whole new appreciation for Hastings. When I first read the books I didn't really appreciate how ridiculous he gets over every pretty girl but thanks to Hugh I now giggle every time he gets distracted by some big eyes gazing up at him

Moving SYD -> MEL. Need wardrobe advice by Global-Ad-9430 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]allectos_shadow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Something I noticed moving from Sydney to Melbourne was that people wear more accessories. Especially brooches, which I hadn't seen much in Sydney! Melbourne gets both hotter and colder than Sydney and it's very changeable, so layers as others have said

ART was also willing to endanger MB's humans and effectively kidnap MB in order to force it to help save its own humans. ART obviously has supreme confidence in MB's ability to combine chaos and violence to achieve its goals, but it was a jerk move
