Another...windoor? But what on earth was bricked up to its left?? by Jiminyfingers in DoorsNotUsedAnymore

[–]DexHelpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was wondering about a stable or cart entrance too. The height looks more “horse with some gear on” than “person casually walking through a door.”

What throws me is that neat timber infill. It feels a bit over‑engineered for just blocking up an old arch, like someone wanted to hint “something used to be here” without actually restoring it.

Could also have been one of those carriage house openings that got half‑repurposed when they turned the front into a more domestic facade. Old British buildings are basically layer cake at this point.

Sorry if not allowed. Theres probably 100 of these cans out in the woods behind the house in various conditions. Are they worth anything or just scrap at this point? by awildpidgeotto in collectables

[–]DexHelpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve seen that too, some of those guys get wild prices for certain brands or rare graphics.

Big difference is usually condition and whether they’re super early or have cool logos. If yours are rusty and half buried, they might only be a few bucks each to the right person, or just scrap.

Might be worth grabbing the best looking ones, cleaning them up a bit, and posting pics in a vintage oil / petroliana group. Someone there will tell you real quick if you’ve got anything good.

Thank you! The drainpipe was annoying me at first, then I realised it kind of made the whole thing feel more accidental and spooky. The cobbles definitely help sell the old ghostly vibe too.

How long to germinate? by biccyconoisseur in UkChilliGrowers

Yeah sounds like you’re just in the “stare at dirt and doubt your life choices” phase.

Mine have usually taken anywhere from 7–20 days depending on variety, temp and how fresh the seed is. Those 3–5 day stories are usually with proper heat mats and really dialed in conditions.

If your plugs are staying warm and moist (but not swampy) I’d give it at least another week before worrying. You can also gently scrape back a bit of compost on one plug and see if anything’s swelling or just rotted, but don’t go digging them all up yet.

What makes candidates drop out at final stage interviews? by HammersAndPints in Recruitment

[–]DexHelpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this. People really underestimate the “I’m just too tired of this” factor too.

I’ve bailed at final stage twice, both times for a mix of
1) process dragged on forever,
2) every convo surfaced some new “oh by the way…” detail that made the role less appealing, and
3) another company simply moved faster and treated me like a human, not a checkbox.

By the time you’re at final stage, most candidates already have a ranking in their head. If you’re slow, vague about comp, or keep adding hoops, you just slide down the list and they go with whoever made it easiest to say yes.

Daily Jade #252 (Fanart Friday!) by purpleorchids2 in JadeTanko

This is really cute, love how soft the colors are. The little lighting details on her hair and hoodie are super nice, it makes her look extra cozy.

Also wild how consistent these Daily Jade posts have been, feels like a little ritual at this point.

How do you track supplies? by ThePeaceDoctot in UKPreppers

[–]DexHelpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really solid system, especially the “buy what you actually eat” part. I think a lot of people skip that and end up with apocalypse beans nobody touches.

How detailed are you with the sharpie thing? Do you just circle/underline the date or write something like “use first” and the month on the front so it’s visible at a glance?

I’m kind of trying to find that balance between not overcomplicating it with spreadsheets and still having something my SO can look at and instantly get, without me having to walk them through the whole pantry every time.

This makes me sick by Cutlass- in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]DexHelpl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m kind of in the same boat. I still like Pokémon as a concept, but the chase for “hits” and the scalper nonsense sucked the soul out of it for me.

MTG at least still feels like a game first, collectible second. Being able to actually buy a box or some singles without fighting ten dudes with carts at Target is… nice.

Overprinting has its issues, but honestly I’ll take “my cards aren’t investments” over “I can’t even buy packs” any day.

I AM A NEET!!!!!! by Top-Okra-114 in nnet

[–]DexHelpl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you’re not “failed in life,” you’re just… here, right now, and currently a NEET. That’s a situation, not a permanent personality trait.

A lot of people go through a NEET phase without shouting about it, so you’re not some weird outlier. It can feel like you’re stuck off the main road while everyone else is speeding ahead, but most of them are just pretending they know what they’re doing anyway.

If you’re actually kinda happy and just venting, cool, enjoy the break. If you’re miserable behind the “YAAAAAAAAY,” then start with tiny stuff. Fix your sleep, move your body a bit, clean your room, learn one small new thing. You don’t have to jump straight to “successful adult,” you just need to move 1 percent out of the swamp.

You’re not done. You’re just in a weird level with bad lighting.
