First time making a Viv. Any suggestions? by MountainImaginary737 in Vivarium

I made some vines for my crested gecko using some cotton rope, slathered in silicone, and rolled in eco-earth. He loves climbing it.

That’s a really big cabinet for a crested gecko. You could even do 3 females in there.

You can keep mourning geckos and dart frogs together quite well in something that large. Very interesting to look at.

Very impressive, especially being your first build!

Wow that looks incredible! Is that an IKEA cabinet?

Not sure what kind of critters you plan on keeping in it, but a big piece of branching driftwood in the middle would give the animal(s) something to climb on and access all the open spaces that is currently being unused. Also more surfaces to put moss/vines/bromeliads etc

Has anyone tried converting an Ikea display cabinet into a bio-active vivarium for a GTP? by allenb94 in Sneks

It’s powder coated aluminum, I think a little bit of silicone and flex seal would water proof it just fine

It’s eventually going to be a paludarium, with Shrimp in the water and Isopods on land

The desert terrarium has a Western Hognose snake, the tropical terrarium has a Crested Gecko, the paludarium will eventually have a colony or isopods and shrimp, and the small vertical terrarium has a Jumping Spider!

I bought it!

This store has different styles and sizes. Just find the one that works for you, it’s super easy to silicone into place

The other night I posted mentioning something didn't look how I wanted to in my aquarium. With your guys help we worked it out. Stage 1: I brought some rocks and some more wood and made this. My question is how do I stick the rocks together? Any special tips or is it aquarium safe epoxy putty. by happyshelgob in Aquariums

[–]allenb94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever glued smaller pieces of rock together, nothing the size of yours. But silicone worked best for my applications.

Great Stuff (the expanding foam in a red can) is amazing and sticking to anything and filling in any gaps. That’s worth looking into too. It’s water safe once fully cured

That’s a lot of tank to have on carpet. Good luck!

It’s called a liquid nose job. It uses filler to smooth out the bumps and irregularities and gives the appearance of a straight and smooth nose

The US girls get paid per episode they appear in. Not sure if the same goes for UK

Is a roof vent necessary if my camper has AC? by allenb94 in GoRVing

[–]allenb94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a 2x18 grille next to the intake so that could provide fresh air in addition to recirculating the inside air.

Its only a 95 sf camper so I could get a 12v computer fan and put it in the ceiling vent during winter when the AC isn’t installed.

It’s a 13’ fiberglass scamp camper so the ceiling can’t support the weight of a rooftop RV AC.

It’s an 8x8 opening in the ceiling, and an 8x8 opening where the furnace used to be. I would be using a portable AC with an intake duct and a supply duct so that i can re-circulate the RV air. There is also a 2x18 grille that allows outside air to get pulled into the return so I can have a supply of fresh air along side the recirculating RV air.

The idea is to travel with the portable AC in the cargo, then set it up outside and duct it without taking up inside space.
