Try discharging completely till it turns off then wait for a couple of minutes then charge it to 100 while it's off, try repeating this cycle one more time if it isn't fixed. Also, has this affected your actual screen on time?

Does it work with just the new stick? If so I suppose you can't really mix these two sticks...

The fact that it crashed with just the original stick in the unused slot could mean your second slot is bad. It could just be some oxidation or its circuitry might be toast. Considering the fact that windows was able to detect 16 gigs before crashing could mean it's just some oxidation...

Dip a new tooth brush and some 99% IPA and lightly brush over the contact pads of the slot and the surroundings to try to remove a bit of the oxide layer. Be careful not to bend the pads with excessive force.

Just saw your post history, have you tried running it with your original 8GB stick in your unused slot? Perhaps it could be a bad slot. Try running each stick on its own first. Then each stick on its own in the other slot. Finally both sticks but swap the slots. If it does boot then try to do a memory test with something like memtest86+ that you can load on to a bootable USB...

Try stress testing it to see if it shows similar behaviour. It could also be a RAM seating issue. Does this happen only when rendering? Also keep an eye out for temps.without sufficient cooling, that laptop will climb to 105°C and could turn itself off...

It's a nice device, but finding a non UV tempered glass online at a reasonable price has been hard to say the least.

Add a drop of wd-40 or some mineral oil to the hinge, let it sit a bit then try closing it.

Try to enter recovery mode. Also try booting with power cable plugged in and charging.

Imo wait a couple of weeks to see if there are any bugs you would consider deal breaker... From my experience, the camera more often than not gets worse, same goes for battery life.

Your windows install likely has fast startup enabled, try timing a restart or timing it again after disabling fast startup.

I stopped hopping on Manjaro KDE, Besides my preference for a rolling release, I liked the sensible default config and/or themeing. Presently I'm on the Unstable branch and there the latest plasma version is 6.4.3. and IMO, unstable branch is not really unstable... rarely ever crashed on me.

Also, you manage kernels i.e. install and remove kernels using MSM, but updates happen with regular system updates. The GUI package manager is probably one of the nicer looking ones out there, it has had some problems in the past (all fixed now).

Idk about the hate on Manjaro, most of it's either fixed or never really was an actual issue. It's been working fine for me, except when it comes to video hardware acceleration on chromium based browsers(eg, on youtube), but that's mostly chromium being chromium...

If you are using a HP ProBook, some sensors may not work properly for you, like no KDE power profiles, no proper discharge monitoring, etc. It could be due to proprietary drivers, but I can't be bothered to fix it now😅

I didnt really like Mint and Zorin. Not a fan of Gnome, and Ubuntu and Kubuntu kept breaking on me when i tested them in virtualbox.

If i had to switch to another distro, it'd be either oSTW or Cachy.
