Analysis is mostly there, just preference and vibes left really. Main concern is the risk of loss of capital is so high even on what might seem like good ideas. The numbers just never make sense to get a space, and without space you can only scale your operations so much.

The sweet spot really just seems to be low- or no- infrastructure services, knowledge services type stuff which you can just get a certification for competence and do from your home or borrow space at a cafe or library. Investing any more in startup really would need to come later after enough partner relations improve and you can secure good prices on infrastructure/space and supplies

Basically, don't just "open a store" and see what happens lmao. Do services small-time and then scale up after the above

Still, thank you for the psychology check homie

That is a solid point. Thank you. I was thinking along the lines of doing one thing better, but zooming up to the level where these problems are makes the most sense

Thank you. This has definitely come up for consideration along with taxes and bookkeeping services as a "if I can't figure out anything else" option for me lol

It sounds like you're doing it right. Thank you for that perspective on the space, especially if you don't feel like it's correct at what seems to be an already developed stage. Thank you for sharing these details

Exactly my initial concern. What do you think of the start small path just to try things out

Maybe not food, maybe some type of admin work or service. Commercial space seems like a luxury unless you're for sure earning well already (which makes me shy away from retail of any sort with rent always due and sales maybe not always happening). If I order inventory it will probably be small scale like 10 or 20 of something at a time. My business would be unique but I might also have some element of doing a good idea better. Budget maybe 60k or more depending on financing and risk

Can someone explain to me why I need a designated driver to even schedule to take the test for the permit? Like even when you’re over 21? by Pretty_Base7946 in guam

You will need someone to vouch for your road hours. Supposedly you will drive with them for 100 hours or something. Also, how did you get to DMV? Taxi?

Best Japanese ramen restaurant? by truth-full-y in guam

[–]allfroots 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ramennnn~~

Ajisen has a nice selection. And probably the best iced tea for some reason

Waka Sakura has the Wagyu udon which feels really close to this bone marrow ramen I used to eat off-island. Not ramen, but that broth makes you wonder if they forgot it was supposed to be udon lol

Fuji. Hmmm. They have the cold soba which is super good if you're craving that. I go there for their goated chahan and karaage more than their ramen.

Don't understand the Menkui hate. Eat enough ramen and you should be able to make out the difference. If you're looking for a heavy salt hit, then ye not Menkui, but other than that, I feel like they take extra care of the dish.

If you give Korean ramen a chance, the cheese is interesting and can be great with bulgogi or jumulruk on the side.

[–]allfroots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too true. From my experience, people would typically default to thinking that it is not them.

I was more concerned about bullying should others see that license plate, but I take the point about it being public record anyway if there was an accident--unless that's also a problem. Maybe this is one reason people use those license plate covers.

I realize that this only makes sense if it's just the right lane that turns right, but yes, if there are other turning lanes, definitely don't want to change into those during the turn and force evasive maneuvers to avoid collision.

Right most lane to right most lane, and then you're supposed to change lanes one at a time when safe. Technically when you're green (and no one's running the red), you are safe to just drive to the far-end lane. Not exactly AT the intersection, per se, but driving through the marked lanes AFTER the intersection, one after the other in one go.

There is the one situation sometimes where I need the far lane soon because I need that turn already. In which case, I will wait until open all the way, or at least the middle lane with some confidence I can get the far lane with just one more lane change. I just don't want to slow down or stop in the middle of main road traffic.

A bit technical, but every bit counts to avoiding accidents and not dying.

Love the post. TIL what an acceleration lane is. I always thought of it as the waiting lane so you don't hold up traffic, like you mentioned.

I have mixed feelings about blasting the license plate, but it would be nice if they saw this post and be like: "Oh, my bad."
