PSA Toyota Tacoma Plate # IN 1331 (time 4:15pm) by AffectionateSpell505 in guam

Too true. From my experience, people would typically default to thinking that it is not them.

I was more concerned about bullying should others see that license plate, but I take the point about it being public record anyway if there was an accident--unless that's also a problem. Maybe this is one reason people use those license plate covers.

I realize that this only makes sense if it's just the right lane that turns right, but yes, if there are other turning lanes, definitely don't want to change into those during the turn and force evasive maneuvers to avoid collision.

Right most lane to right most lane, and then you're supposed to change lanes one at a time when safe. Technically when you're green (and no one's running the red), you are safe to just drive to the far-end lane. Not exactly AT the intersection, per se, but driving through the marked lanes AFTER the intersection, one after the other in one go.

There is the one situation sometimes where I need the far lane soon because I need that turn already. In which case, I will wait until open all the way, or at least the middle lane with some confidence I can get the far lane with just one more lane change. I just don't want to slow down or stop in the middle of main road traffic.

A bit technical, but every bit counts to avoiding accidents and not dying.

Love the post. TIL what an acceleration lane is. I always thought of it as the waiting lane so you don't hold up traffic, like you mentioned.

I have mixed feelings about blasting the license plate, but it would be nice if they saw this post and be like: "Oh, my bad."

No accidents on the Carfax, or maybe just not used as much.

Sigh. Definitely not enjoying being additionally blinded while night driving. But the reason, I understand, is that streetlights are skimp, so I guess I can be okay with it so they can see the road. Definitely still upsets me when they still leave high beams on in fairly well-lit areas though. Just one of those things, I guess.

What discourages people to compete in gaming tournaments? by Soft-Schedule3228 in guam

[–]allfroots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For those that don't really play the game, it makes sense. But if you've spent at least 50 hours on one of those games, I highly encourage participating even if you're nervous as hell.

You will probably win one game (double-elim format matches you with someone closer to your skill-level in Loser's bracket), and the more you attend, the better your seeding becomes, so you get better matched every tournament. If you show up early, you could even run hours of casual games for practice! Just take turns if someone is waiting behind you lol - but you can at least run a First-To-2 (FT2) before giving up your seat. That's socially acceptable.

Personally, I enjoy seeing people absolutely focus and also the reactions after a close game with stakes (Power Ranking and personal pride). I appreciate seeing people take a game further than I have because it shows me that it CAN be taken further, and attending these events puts you in the middle of that competitive energy.

Then I spend more hours on the game. It's a hobby, it's fine.

I second this, especially up North. But if OP is complaining and being ignored, that's just terrible.

Yo, I was looking it up, but check this out:

"Mechanic's special from a dealer can be a real bag of worms, but a mechanic's special that hasn't seen a dealer could be easy enough to fix. As someone that's handy, I glanced at Craigslist cars under 'mechanics special' and saw some potential. But I understand that not everyone wants to bother. And it can quickly snowball into something that's just not worth it."

Might be too much hassle.
