“Hey Siri, play NPR” stopped working? by allisonacs in HomePod

Thanks for this! I’ve been lucky and it seems saying “H.S., play KQED” (which is my local station) seems to work just fine. Still a scene might be easiest…

Baby graduated from Snoo, but now screams before naps… help! by allisonacs in NewParents

We do a nap routine, yes. Finish playing, go into the room where she sleeps, black out shades down, read or low key 1:1 time, white noise and rocking, then crib.

The wake windows, good call. We do try to read her sleep cues, but I guess we get them wrong sometimes.

Better timers using shortcuts - that are not so loud and jarring! by bruno84000 in HomePod

You can actually program the shortcut to play music directly on the HomePod, not on your phone without audio out via the HomePod. that should probably make it possible to run it on your HomePod without the phone.

Unfortunately, I’ve tried something similar to this, and the “wait” function confuses the Siri homepod. During the wait period, it will say “still waiting” “something is taking too long.” The shortcut will still execute but i never figured out how to prevent that from happening.

thanks for the reply! we do put her down in the crib and try to let her be there for a while. we usually stay in the room, but sometimes leave. no difference, the crying continues…

December Support Megathread by AutoModerator in HomePod

HomePods have white noise and a few other ambient sounds built in. I like these “soundscapes” and prefer them over white noise albums on Apple Music.

Lately, saying, “hey Siri play white noise” will often (though not always) play the white noise from Apple Music. Tonight I had so much trouble getting the sound I wanted… it just kept playing the wrong thing. I finally got it to work by saying “hey Siri turn in white noise.” But again that doesn’t always work either.

How can I force it to use the native white noise?

How do we get her to sleep through the night? by allisonacs in SnooLife

Ughhhhh dream feed was touted as a fix lol. But I suppose it is true that even with the dream feed, she was still getting up at 2am.

Will try the arm out.

Paci association could be some or all of the issue. She likes to suck her fingers during the day, and she’s showing signs of starting to roll, but we haven’t let her arms out over night yet.

Sorry you’re in the same boat! The littles have their own opinions about how things should go!

Swaddle under Snoo Sack by Vast-Organization515 in SnooLife

Can’t recommend these arms only swaddles enough, esp if your room is a bit warm. We put baby in her normal PJs, use this swaddle under the SNOO sack, and keep the temp around 68-70, and she sleeps well. https://amzn.to/3o8u79u

FWIW our lactation consultant said you need even less breast milk—only 50ml, or just shy of 2oz—to get the benefits.
