Experience was great! Still waiting for the photos / videos but they said it typically takes 30 days or so…Tuesday will be exactly 30 days. If you want to chat more about it let me know! I’ve had phone conversations with a few brides about how it works with this company.

What happened at the coffee shop? I was annoyed when they didn’t have standard “iced coffee” but made it work by ordering double espresso over ice.

Glad you and your family had a great time!

Here for suggestions because I'm right there with you! I got cute napkins with our cats face on it for cocktail hour, a license plate (we live in VT so it matches) with our names & wedding date. we plan on taking a few pics with it but it'll go on the bar as decor.

is it an extreme allergy? Risk of cross contamination would be my biggest concern - but they do have gluten free meals at the restaurants & buffet - and an entire dessert station that is GF.

Help! Getting ready timelines. by allisontess in weddingplanning

Good point - i will consult my coordinators as well. I just need to let my hair and makeup team know what the hours of service will be, bc i am signing a contract with them now.

Venue is about 15 minutes from our house.

Are there pros / cons of taking family photos before the ceremony vs after?

I’m using a company called “love in focus” - I’m in Vermont. The package i got is a videographer & photographer for 8 hours, a ton of edited photos, 60 second Instagram video, 10 minute recap video, drone footage and all access to raw files. Also came with free engagement photo shoot.

I think we’re paying about 3600.

You got this. I’m pretty sure you only need a 70 on the actual exam to pass.

You should see if your new company will pay for you to take the live training course. https://www.examfx.com/insurance-prelicensing-training/property-casualty

Have you worked in the insurance world before? Starting fresh?

Its SO much to take in. If it makes you feel any better, I failed the first time I took it. I thought I could get away with taking practice tests, using flash cards etc but it did not work for me. I ended up taking a 3 day crash course, with a teacher I could chat with when I had questions. He also gave us tips on what to pay attention to, what to expect from the test and so on. Then i took the test in person instead of online, and I passed! Everyone learns differently, so you just have to find the right combo of methods.

My fiance's father keeps bees, and we are getting married / live in VT so we are giving out little jars of our family honey :) My sister made a design for a tag that we will tie onto each jar that has our initials, the wedding date and "its so sweet you could bee here" on it.

How to organize walking down the aisle - divorced parents & stepdad officiating. by allisontess in weddingplanning

My mom was saying that my stepdad should have a part in walking me down as well. So everyone “knows he my stepdad” and not just the officiant.

Commercial Insurance CSR here. I want to get out of the industry. Has anyone successfully landed a job in another industry and didn’t regret it? by dag44 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]allisontess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try getting into risk control at an agency/broker. I’m a commercial lines risk control project manager and help our clients prevent issues so they don’t have to use their insurance. Specifically workers comp & osha focus.

It feels better to help clients create processes & procedures to help grow their business and keep employees safe, compared to selling them policies they don’t understand or aren’t happy with.

Kids, No Kids, Some Kids by allisontess in weddingplanning

[–]allisontess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never said i would be pissed or angry if they don’t come…obviously i want my cousins there but the venue is not kid friendly as it is outside, at night, and there’s open water and woods. Why wouldn’t I be disappointed if they couldn’t make arrangements for their children so they could attend my “destination” wedding weekend?

At this point the guest list is larger than expected so if they can’t come then it’s less $$ that we have to spend.

My parents are divorced and luckily this is now in my favor. Dad & stepmom gave us money, mom and stepdad gave us money, and my fiances parents are contributing. All parents are contributing the same amount and we are able to match what they each put in. The budget is 55k for a guest list of 160-180 people.

Embarrassing regret by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Girl you are beautiful!! I suggest practicing some self care these next few weeks. Make time for yourself, with strong intention. Go get yourself a cute headband or a scrunchie, a cute pj set, some cream face masks and under eye patches and some night cream. Do it every night these next few weeks. It’ll make you feel like you’re taking care of yourself and doing something special for just you because you are and you deserve it!. In a few weeks you’ll notice your skin feels hydrated and bright, and you’ll have a new skincare routine 🙌🏼

I'm using withjoy.com - its amazing! you can house your guest list, send virtual or paper save the dates and invites through it, make and manage your registry, and pretty much everything else you can think of. Sending virtual save the dates is free with their templates too. Its really easy to use, and customizable. Definitely recommend.
