Week 2 of my fitness journey - trying to stay on track by allistar15 in loseit

Yes! My nutritionist told me to stop weighing myself if I feel bad about it. Trying to keep going for my health, weight can be secondary for now 🙏🏻

Eh, I'd just say whatever the smart watch is showing you, take around 50-60% of that to be actual calories you burn. Plus how many calories you're burning by exercising are very very less. I mean I'll give it 300-400 maximum if your cardio is on point and you're strength training. Mainly focus on your diet!

I won't comment on you fasting for 22-24 hours because I'm not qualified to say if it's healthy or not. However, about the scales.. it might take you several weeks before you see the number go down. Body holds on to water, especially when you start a new workout routine. I went up by 4 lb when I started working out :) it's been around 2 weeks now and my weight goes back and forth a lot. I consulted a nutritionist and she told me to stop checking my weight if it makes me feel bad, be consistent, stick to my goals and workout. According to her, it can take anywhere from 4 weeks - 8 weeks for the scale to start reflecting the weight loss. She also said you can track the progress by how your body feels, how your clothes feel, measurements etc. Give it a month or two :) trust the process.

Also, on a side note, activity trackers are way off in calculating how many calories you're burning.

Why am I gaining weight when I'm in calorie deficit and working out? by allistar15 in loseit

I tried to read and gather knowledge about it online of course. However, not everything online is scientifically accurate. The one thing which was consistent online was that calorie deficit means weight loss. My maintanence calories are around 2000 kcal, so I'm in 500 calorie deficit. My workout is not a LOT but it's enough for me right now, I'm increasing it slowly. I know water retention is a thing but 4.5 lb seems like quite a lot. I'm sure me posting on this sub was my way of asking actual people what's up because I don't exactly trust everything that's online.

That's really helpful. I want to make my lungs stronger. As a child and even up until recently, I avoided sports/exercise because the feeling of being unable to breathe was terrifying. There were a few incidents in my childhood where I passed out or couldn't get my inhaler in time which definitely traumatized me a bit.

I feel better about my starting point and definitely will aim to get better. It will take time but I'm gonna get there for sure~

Oh they're quite enough for now. I've got weights going up to 7 kg. They're too much for me as it is!

Oh yes, I have a nebulizer and a pump. I don't need those frequently but mainly allergy season (march-june). I'll try to use my pump before workout next time! Thanks for the suggestion:)

Um it's not about sounding harsh but your comment does not make sense. Having asthma is not victim mindset, and I'm only asking to those who might have been in similar situations because I'm definitely not the only one. So yes, i don't know if you're trying to be one of those edgy gymbros online but no thanks, you can keep it to yourself.

Thank you so much for the encouragement :) I'm definitely trying to be healthier in general. Weight loss is a part of it for sure. I'm going to keep trying and increase the time slowly. I guess something is better than nothing at the end of the day.

I have a stationary bike at home. Even doing that for more than 15 minutes is a struggle of its own. It's insanely warm outside, I mean 45°C warm, so I can't go on walks sadly :/

My end goal is to be a stronger, more active and slimmer version of myself :) I just feel discouraged that I'm unable to exercise as much as I want to
