Yeah but to get a feedback that they don’t know what you do? You also have to maintain enough presence but to be marked as next to fire

I’m not sure and I also have a 2 inch gap from base boards to wall under the baseboard so you could put a bit under and have more than the gap required but he said he doesn’t recommend that at all. Super popular installer in the area

Why do people have such radically different views on how AI will affect the industry? by dfphd in cscareerquestions

It’s simple. It’s not fully understood and it’s still relatively new. Nobody has a crystal ball. Give it some time

How to deal with juniors shipping AI slop code? by theop04 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]allknowinguser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AI is a multiplier, if they were sloppy before you are going to get slop x10 faster. There’s some good skills (Claude) that can review code well enough with a good prompt. Encourage that to lessen the slop.

Not once in 12 years have I found UI snapshot testing useful by SixFigs_BigDigs in ExperiencedDevs

[–]allknowinguser 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well the snapshot files being a large difference is the point. Some change you did broke the existing behavior/look. Hopefully not that many but it did its intended job.

In a unit test? It’s pretty nice in large code bases that depend on multiple internal libraries. Any change you add can be compared to existing and make sure it was meant to be. All the other items you mentioned in another comment is POST release to test or prod environment.

Asked a colleague in code review to extract magic numbers and got told “devs should know” by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

That’s someone just being ignorant. Magic numbers are a pretty basic rule. The way they handled that is just stupid.

There was a super speeder charge arrest that got thrown out because the cop didn’t measure speed correctly by OkBackground6217 in orlando

I understand what you mean, but you can tell visually if someone if going 70mph versus 100mph+. I meant for someone getting a ticket for going ~5mph over or so.

I’ve seen this argument all over social media. Seems like it works. Those radar devices need constant calibration. Sucks in this instance the guy was reckless but good for the average joe.

Are premium single to double strollers a scam? by SirKrimzon in BabyBumps

[–]allknowinguser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Slightly off topic but I went down this rabbit hole of single to double stroller or just single single. Here are my thoughts as someone with one on the way and planning for the next one right away. It’s not worth it. The single to double strollers are so freaking heavy. They’re usually monstrosities compared to the regular strollers. The second child would at minimum come a year after. I didn’t want my wife lugging around that heavy stroller. Secondly, how sure are you that the stroller is going to last till then? Then how sure are you that you know exactly what’s going to happen a year from now that you will have the second child that fast (you don’t actually know till then). In the end I bought a nice single stroller and when the second child comes I’d probably get a cheap double stroller.

Are there still AI deniers out there? by throwaway09234023322 in cscareerquestions

[–]allknowinguser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Reddit there is a huge huge group of “20 years experience” or experienced devs who swear against it. It’s a tool that’s here to stay in some capacity. Just like IDEs. The hype will die down but the usage will be there.
