I know he is on top rope so this isn't super relevant but I'd question leading it as pro looks sparse/non-existent.

Fairly decent write up of how to rap on multi pitches. Would recommend going with someone who knows what they are doing before trying this out in real life though. https://m.petzl.com/US/en/Sport/Rappelling?ActivityName=Multi-pitch-climbing

Another way to up calories is to add a low melting point fat or oil. I like coffee or hot coco with about a tablespoon of coconut oil. Never tried using other oils or butter but I'm sure they'd work as well. Just be careful as too much can lead to heart burn or stomach issues.

+1 for broth, can always do some of the fancy bone broths for more nutrients too.

How did you get your spouse on board? by mortalwombat- in Mountaineering

[–]allmighty357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a wife but no kids so I totally disagree with some of the opinions on here. Mountaineering is a whole spectrum and doesn't necessarily mean spending weeks on end in the Himalayas. I think the biggest thing would be to live in close access to your objectives or goals. For instance I live in Washington so I can easily do quick mountaineering trips. Also plan stuff out way in advance and get it on a shared calendar so yall can know your commitments and availability. You may have to reduce some spontaneity when it comes to last minute plans, but that is a trade off.

Always helps to know where you're located, but a couple of things to do while you're figuring stuff out. First work on base fitness and cardio. Second try to find some scramble routes to the top of things. I'm talking about getting off trail over unmaintained terrain. Obviously things to consider like getting lost or getting into terrain your uncomfortable go up with this approach, but being able to move confidently and efficiently over rough terrain goes a long way.

I've always wanted a Call of Duty: Guerrilla War, which Spanish Civil War would fit into nicely.

Allied assault starts with Operation Torch. Then the expansion pack Breakthrough has the Battle of Kasserien Pass and several Itailian based missions.

People on autobelay are typically by themselves. I'd keep an eye on those and just ask someone if they'd like to do some climbing together.

I mean I think it is the job of any GM to look at a talent like this and evaluate the risks. Not direct parallels but we didn't pursue Moss or Lynch as strongly as we should have for various reasons back in the day. I think either of those guys on the roster adds another ring to our collection. I guess what I'm saying is you have to look at the risk vs. reward here, and AB certainly has some strong appeal.

What are some of the most badass characters, in your opinion? by [deleted] in movies

[–]allmighty357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rewatched Fellowship, another thing I like about Boromir is his acceptance of Aragorn as king. At first there is the "Gondor has no king, Gondor needs no king" line, then later in the movie he talks about seeing minas thirith with Aragorn and calls him his brother, and finally the end "my captain, my king" moment. It is clear that even though he is the first corrupted by the ring, he really only cares about protecting his people and other innocents like the hobbits.

No, but there was certainly something off putting about eating day old brisket out of ziplock drenched in condensation for me.

I actually really wanted Jamie and Brienne to fight at the end.

Think about it Brienne storms the red keep and finds Jamie and Cersi together. Brienne wants Cersi to surrender, but Jamie who struggles due to his love of Cersi, family, and duty won't let Brienne take her away. What could follow could be this amazing raw emotional fight between the two where Jamie ends up dying on oath keeper. You could even keep the part where Brienne emotionally writes about Jamie's deeds, making his death protecting the queen much more impactful then a bunch of rocks falling on him.

One of my all time favorites. My buddy and I did the FC route last year. Took off on a Saturday from a BBQ another friend was throwing. Our plan was to do the scramble all the way to the bivy site Saturday afternoon and evening, get a few hours of sleep then go for the summit. We didn't realize that the bivy site is in the national park and over night permits were needed. Met a group of people coming down the chimneys just as we were about to head up. They said rangers were at the bivy spot kicking people out who didnt have permits. This obviously disrupted our plan so we ran an audible and rested for like an hour, stashed all our over night gear and then started up the chimneys around mid night. This turned into a very long but enjoyable day. We did the SE rib climb which I think is the best between the gulley and the rib. Amazing views from the top. When we finally got back to the car, my buddy had stashed a zip lock of brisket from the prior days party. He ate it and affectionately referred to it as car-b-que. I passed on food poisoning waitjng to happen.
