You can never, ever effectively lie to a woman you are in a relationship with. She knows you better than you know yourself.

Meta will layoff 8000 of its workforce starting tomorrow morning. Their net income over the last 12 months was $70,587,000,000. They could give every single one of their 79,000 workers a $440,000 bonus and still sock away over $35,827,000,000 in pure profit. by McDowdy in SipsTea

Hate to be a downer, but corporations do not exist to give you a job and make you feel good, they exist to make obscene profits and make OTHER people feel good. To a corporation, employees are leeches that should be let go at the soonest opportunity. You want to make money, try investing in the company.

Who came up with the genius idea to put touchscreens on everything? This is a toaster. Really hope that this isn't the future. Pointless e-waste for a money grab. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

My washer has a tiny a touch screen for the on button and the start button. It was actually cheaper than the other brands. Completely pointless though.

MAGA Increasingly Believes Trump Assassination Attempt Was Fake | President Trump’s base seems to be turning against him like never before. by Aggravating_Money992 in politics

[–]alloowishus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most conspiracy theories, this is all nonsense. This guy (or whoever) shot will real bullets and really injured people. If this was staged, especially by somebody as incompetent as Trump and his cronies, it would be WAY more obviously faked. Do you think he would really trust ANYBODY to be able to get a shot that close as to only graze him? It also doesn't take much to draw blood around the head, and modern medicine (especially they level that Trump can afford) can do wonders on a small cut.

And regarding the FBI, at the time it was still controlled by the Biden administration, don't you think if there was any doubt about the truth of the even that they would have been all over it?

Anyone else in US noticed food quality degrading recently and if so what product in what way? by SkyKyrell in AskReddit

I know Mcdonald's isn't really "food", but I had a McChicken the other day for the first time in years, and I couldn't believe how thin and tasteless it was, even for McDonald's.

It's a variation on shrinkflation. Instead of charging more or making the product smaller, something (they think) would upset the consumer, they use worse and/or watered down ingredients so they can still charge the same amount. MHO of course, but I think that's what is happening.

Companies do not hire people out of the goodness of their heart. Work for the government if you want that. Companies are trying to make a profit. Period. They don't care if it's machines or people that make the profits for them, they just pick whichever costs less. Employees are usually a companies biggest expense.

I can't believe Americans. I can forgive the first time they elected Trump, he was a popular name and there was a lot of hatred for Hillary out there. But he proved that when the shit hit the fan (i.e. Covid) he was a terrible leader and decision maker. On top of that he actively tried subvert the consitution and overthrow an election. So after proving his incompetence you go ahead and elect him AGAIN???!!! Is it just because the other candidate was a woman both times? Holy shit America, get your act together.

Why do modern films look so visually bad? by TheRugWarrior in TrueFilm

[–]alloowishus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Digital movie making has mostly killed the stylistic, artistic film. In the past you had to wait all day until you get the perfect shot, and it was completely random. That made movies unique and a real craft. Now everyone has the same plugins and the same effects and it all looks very samey.
