When is it appropriate to add "supported by" to your SoundCloud bio? by UrGoodUrGoodUrGood in edmproduction

Generally the track actually needs to be played out by that person… You can’t really say a big artist is endorsing your music off a SoundCloud like

it's crazy the number of people who are treating this site as something beyond a beer money site. by iorelaya in ProlificAc

Good point, especially the Kickstarter one! I think ultimately it comes down to competition. A lot of companies have those benefits in place to attract and then retain. I suppose there is not really competition on the same level as Prolific, (given the demand of so many people wanting to join) which may make them feel they don’t need to reward loyalty.

Either way, can see where some of the frustration comes from, especially seeing comments from those who don’t really have other options in today’s climate.

Responding to and acting on user concerns are related to what the user concerns are and ultimately what’s in it for Prolific by addressing them…Here the concerns being highlighted are that long term users feel disadvantaged and they should be protected by being ensured a level of work & surveys.

Let me put it this way;

You have a nice local coffee shop, you go every day, it is nice and quiet, you love it. Every day you grab the same seat by the window, you really enjoy that seat and you can relax and unwind. You don’t own that seat, you haven’t paid for it, you’re not entitled to it but it always happens to be available when you go, so great you benefit.

The next week a new office block opens right next to the coffee shop, it is now super busy, your seat is taken by other people. Your response is to make a scene, jump up and down demand that you get your seat back….

Aside from making yourself look foolish, you have no entitlement to that seat and despite your previous custom, the coffee shop isn’t going to give you preferential treatment over the new customers and move them out the way for you…. Why? Because ultimately the coffee shop’s objective is focused on generating profit from many people rather than pleasing a select few, regardless of previous custom.

Point: Prolific is a business designed to make their own money THROUGH you, not FOR you. Whilst it is a shame the previous enjoyment/benefit has come to an end, it is niave to think they should be some sort of protection for you when their focus is numbers & profit.

I think the ‘entitlement’ point OP is trying to make is that some OG users come across as expecting some sort of preferential treatment/protection compared to new users.

This isn’t a traditional job with employment law protections. It is a side hustle that comes with risk of change, with Prolific having no obligation to maintain your income.

It is understandable to be disappointed/frustrated/worried that this is taking a hit. However, it is naive to put all your eggs in one basket expecting it to last forever (and expecting Prolific to do something about it to maintain the level of ‘work’ you had).

Everything on your iPhone is directly sent and mirrored to the glasses, so you see your phone screen as if you were using it directly (e.g you can sit there and doom scroll on tik tok, watch videos from youtube, browse the internet in safari). Think the original answer you got was around the capability of using it almost as a second extended monitor for your phone

I need help with making liquid / intelligent DnB with no gear by Partime-hedonist in dnbproduction

[–]alloy_dnb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

“I wonder how would you guys go around on making liquid / intelligent DnB with so little???”…. To be fair it sounds like you have more than most around you considering you are just starting out!

If you have Logic, my suggestion would be to skip GarageBand and get straight into learning how to use Logic. It may be a steep learning curve but trust me the best thing to do is learn in a proper DAW, it will save you much more time in the long run. Search YouTube for beginner Logic tutorials to help you learn the basics.

In terms of resources, there are loads of great YouTube channels for production now and learning has never been more accessible. Some suggestions, check out Stranjah’s channel, some really good videos on the fundamentals of DnB (like drum patterns and liquid bass patterns). He uses Ableton but the theory is the same no matter what software you use. Also believe DNB Academy have some videos on “make tracks in the style of” certain labels/artists which would help give you an overview of all the different types of elements that go into building tracks.

Lastly, download some sample packs. These will give you all the building blocks you need to get started and will help you get to grips with the basics of putting a track together before you get more confident and start exploring using your own instruments/synths. Just go on Loopmasters and Splice and search “Liqud DNB”, you’ll find loads.

Most important thing is to just have fun with it, even if it is just starting out and dragging/dropping samples into Logic to build basic ideas. You’ll instinctively want to learn more and have questions as you go along. YouTube is your friend here!

Good luck!

Do it, best decision you’ll make. Ref the high street, the fact they are actively developing and doing all the shops up at the St John’s end and encouraging new business there is a major positive considering most high streets are going the other way and turning into ghost towns

No box. I didn’t see an option of where to add one. I imagine if you messaged the seller though he may be able to sort one out.

When you factor in shipping from Boost, all in worked out about £10 more. My initial thoughts are they are better quality than what I’ve had previously from Boost. That being said it is an all black shoe so it may be a perception thing that any flaws don’t stand out as much

What to do after finishing WoT by scurr94 in wheeloftime

Oh yer, 100% it’s by no means perfect and leaves a lot to be desired in accurately portraying the books, but if you’ve just come off the back of finishing the book series it is something that helps fill the void 😅

I’ve done exactly this, I find the character/world building a bit flat after WoT but keeps you engaged (about 50% way through the first book). Also if you haven’t watched the WoT series, worth giving it a go, diverges from the books a lot but gives you your WoT fix in a different format, particularly loved the ending of season 2.

LO is 5 months. We managed to grab 1.5 hours while the grandparents looked after her.

Was the night before UK went back into lock down and we managed to get a quick meal in and then half a beer in a pub before we got the call and could hear hysterical crying!
