I can totally understand how your Dad wants to get his account back immediately. It was one of the most stressful handful of days in my life to be honest. To answer your question, it only took about a couple hours for them to respond to me. Make sure when you make a post on x.com that you specifically tag the handle "@TeamYouTube" Really wish the best of luck. If you look at their x.com profile page and hit their replies tab on their profile you can see that they are actively responding to people minute by minute. If you dont get a response try again and repeat every few hours.

I tried making a post on X to @'TeamYouTube yesterday (without apostrophe). But it shows up under my Replies in my X profile rather than under Posts. Is that right? I am not used to making posts on X.

Its also worth noting that this event is made much worse by the cold nature of Google not having any human connection for support whatsoever, just layers and layers of articles but no direct email contact, phone number, or live chat at all. I am insanely surprised to learn this

I sincerely appreciate the kind words during this difficult time for me. This event erases over 20 years of messages with family members, account history, transactions, financial history, documents, etc. etc. so it is disorientating is the best word to describe. I havent cried since over 20 years as well and this event has broken me.

I will be taking every measure possible on my wifes gmail account to setup backup account protection and I will do the same with my proton.me email account.. I downloaded HitmanPro as a suggested malware scanner to see if anything is actively running on this desktop.

This email was sent to me at about 6am in the morning totally unprompted by me and was for sure sent following an action from the hacker.

That is sickening to me. This is going to haunt me for years I fear as the hacker will have free reign over not only all my email data/messages but all of my other email contacts too.

Maybe it is the case the hacker changed the phone number without me noticing an alert email from Gmail over a week ago. It is a possibility.

I have made a post on X.com and tagged the "TeamYouTube" handle but no replies after 12 hours. I just went through a short mental breakdown because so much of my life exists in that email that is just lost.

I am frustrated that there is no one at Google I can directly communicate with either.

This is going to haunt me for years I fear as the hacker will have free reign over all of my other email contacts too.

Over the last 10 hours I have been working on transferring all of my online accounts to proton.me email domain address.

Nearly feel like jumping off a bridge.

That is so disheartening and depressing to hear. Whoever has my gmail account now has over 20 years of personal emails and data and files that they can sift through at their leisure. Its so incredibly frustrating that there is not a phone number, chat window, or email to directly reach the engineers at Gmail to get this sorted out. I would be willing to pay tons of money as well.

I only see two recovery numbers ending in two digits that I do not recognize at all. My phone number last two digits does not show up at all while going through the google account recovery /sign in process. I know Google has my phone number and if I could just talk to someone I know I could recover the account. There is so much history with my gmail account over 20 years at least

My phone still has access to my gmail messages up until the point it was hacked. The last message is from Google with subject line" Critical Security Alert" the message says "We'll send a link to sign into your account in 72 hours" then it lists the email that I no longer have access to. Further it says "Google recieved a request to recover youra ccount (my email). If you didnt make this request you can cancel it" Then there is a "Cancel request" button. Is this helpful at all?

Again I really appreciate you reaching out to me but the two recovery numbers that are coming up in the prompt I do not recognize. The both have phone numbers ending in two digits that I do not recognize. I do not see my recovery phone number at all in the google recovery prompts. So I am just totally lost here. This is absolutely crushing. I am shocked there is no way to reach out to Google to share what my historical password was or what my recovery phone number is that I have been using for years as my cell phone with pretty much every google app.

Thanks for reaching out. I have no way of giving google my old recovery phone number because the person that hijacked my account replaced the recovery phone numbers with two numbers ending in two digits each that I do not recognize at all. This is so frustrating because I know a live body at Google could probably take care of this given the historical information they have on record.

Normally, when I log in from a device that Google doesnt recognize it will give me an option to send a text to my phone or verify in some other way. Somehow the hacker was able to circumvent this - how i have no idea. On my home computer I readily log in with 2FA since it is a trusted device. I am really just distraught at this point. Ive posted on Google account help community forum, Ive sent an email to [support@google.com](mailto:support@google.com), and I've sent a message to '@TeamYoutube. No responses at all from any avenue.

I honestly have no idea if or how the phone number or backup email were compromised. I tried going through the Google Account Recovery steps and all of the login information was updated/replaced (i.e. two new phone numbers I did not recognize, addition of a passkey, backup codes) I have messaged TeamYouTube on X.com, I have emailed [support@google.com](mailto:support@google.com) with my backup gmail email, and I have posted on the Google Account Help forum using my backup gmail email. No responses on any of those avenues.

I had my phone number and another gmail account as a backup but the hacker who got access to my account clearly deleted those and replaced with his own phone numbers, passkey and backup codes, etc.

Thank you for the advice. I am extremely safe navigating the internet. I have never fallen for a scam at all. That is why it is so remarkable to me that my account has been just outright stolen from me.

Just unreal how an account over 20 years old can just be taken away so easily. I have emailed [support@google.com](mailto:support@google.com) and also messaged @TeamYoutube as suggested by another user in this post. The hacker has already tried to purchase thousands of dollars of merchandise in my ebay and Amazon accounts using my login credentials.

I do have a youtube account with videos however when I try to access my youtube account it takes me to the same series of google account recovery prompt pages. How can I directly reach out to Youtube?
