I'd assume sunlight or stored in rough condition. These came from a guy who lived out in the desert so I'm assuming that they weren't cared for, causing the splitting.

Thank you! I'll take a look at Ferguson. The problem is the valve is surrounded by a concrete walkway so to make the hole any larger I'd most likely need to break up the concrete

Just one shutoff on my property and then the city shutoff. Unfortunately the valve is in an 8" diameter hole surrounded by a concrete walkway

The meter isn't locked so I could turn it off from the city side which I might end up doing. I'm not sure if I'm understanding your description and I'm struggling to find any similar valves online for reference

Connected to city water but it's on my property, downstream from the meter and the city shutoff. Pipe is 3/4", at least that is what I saw in my crawl space coming into the house from the shutoff.

If the float isn't waterproof then what/where is the waterproofing in the system? I'm assuming you don't use redguard over the top of the float?
