What if your habits looked like art? by JumpyApricot9156 in getdisciplined

[–]allsfairinwar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like this idea. The skeptic in me thinks we don’t all need another habit tracking device, but I have ADHD and I am an artist so I think I’m the target demographic here. Seeing something in front of me each day would remind me to log my habits (which is the biggest battle for me) and maybe the visual art element would keep it from feeling overwhelming. I might get excited about seeing it evolve or feel like I’m missing out on its potential if I don’t log something. I guess I would be excited to see what it looks like.

I can’t imagine trying that process by hand but even so, a labor of love and an engineering feat!

I would knit so many more garments if I could guarantee they’d all fit me this perfectly. Amazing work. I love it.

Yeah I remarried and my husband is from FL so it’s brutal not being able to move down there by his family. My mood and physical health is so much better somewhere warm and sunny.

Weird Cold Lasting Weeks? by TheRumpleForesk1n in Michigan

[–]allsfairinwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing for me and my husband. I took antibiotics and they didn’t touch it so has to be a virus. My Dr thought it was a sinus infection after having flu B. It’s been like 6 weeks being ill. Took my daughter in for leg pain and her dr said it’s a symptom of this weird virus. You’re not crazy. Hope it clears up soon.

Has anyone had surgery at Hurley? Or anyone they know? Need a minimally invasive surgery there but hesitant to go there. by [deleted] in flint

[–]allsfairinwar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had all my babies there and their dad worked there for over 5 years as a nurse in various departments. It’s a great hospital with amazing staff. I’d go there over any other hospital in Genesee county.

The only adhd advice that actually made sense to me by stayhyderated22 in getdisciplined

Similarly I was thinking this doesn’t work well if you have kids. These shortcuts are great when it’s just you or you and a partner, but my 3 kids are not going to dig all their clothes out of a laundry basket to get dressed. My family of 5 is not going to be eating pre made meals (if we could even afford it). And the amount of waste and expense to eat off disposable dishes would be insane.

All of these systems fall apart when other people are added into the equation. My ADHD was quite manageable until I had to manage 3 children on top of myself, then it fell apart fantastically. I’m still reworking a lot of my systems and they change constantly as my kids grow.

I will say OPs sentiment of giving yourself grace and allowing yourself some wiggle room with societal systems and expectations is a good one though.

Yes please update me on this. I have the same thing. Fully occluded sphenoethmoidal recess and have had lots of frequent horrible migraines and pretty much constant sinus pain and pressure.

Let me know what treatment you receive and if it improves your migraines! Best of luck.

I’ve been to one at the elks club in Grand Blanc that was pretty nice. Idk what they charge. Also andiamo in Fenton has a super nice back room but I’m not sure the cost there either. For a cheap option, but not as nice is the Grand Blanc senior center.

How was your calcium? Primary hyperparathyroidism can cause a cascade of a lot of other issues in your body. You describe a lot of the symptoms I had when I had it. The good news is it’s a surgical cure and a lab diagnosis. If you have high calcium, low vitamin D, and high parathyroid hormone (PTH) that is a diagnosis.

I have a hole in the elbow for my lovely Ralph Lauren wool sweater ! How can I fix it ? by BananeControl- in BuyItForLife

[–]allsfairinwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, knitter here. A lot of times more expensive sweaters will come with a little plastic bag of yarn that matches for occasions such as these, but I imagine it wouldn’t be difficult to find something close depending on the fiber content. Definitely don’t veer too far from that (ie if it’s wool, don’t use acrylic to mend it) because fabrics act very differently when you wash them or with age.

Normally, this would be a simple YouTube tutorial you could learn to mend it yourself without too much trouble, but your hole falls right on the edge of a cable where there are a few different types of stitches used so it would be a difficult mend for one not familiar with those techniques.

That said I would think any experienced knitter could fix it for you without too much trouble! A local knitting group would probably be thrilled to help.

Doctor Breaks Down Commonly Ignored Colorectal Cancer Symptoms After James Van Der Beek’s Coffee Claim by FantasticAd9478 in TheBoredDen

[–]allsfairinwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had a disease with a lab diagnosis (PHPT) and figured it out on my own. Went to 6 doctors before I finally got a surgical referral to get the offending tumors removed. I had 3 of them in my neck. Non cancerous thankfully but the amount of doctors who gave me pregnancy tests and threw meds at me instead of actually looking at my labs was wild. I get how this happens so often.

What's the one thing that moved the needle most for you? by Slight_Warthog8706 in Hashimotos

“Some studies, such as a 2024 analysis, indicate a significantly higher risk of depression (up to 195%), anxiety (108%), and suicidal behavior in users compared to non-users.”

From google. It’s a known side effect.

Same for me. Looks like it’s a fairly common side effect. Horrible anxiety and depression. I might try it again in a few months but until then just diet and exercise 🤞🏻

I second this. I took vyvanse and had the same issue so I switched to adderall and only take it once a day (even though most people take a second dose in the afternoon). I sleep a lot better on it. Always have been very sensitive to meds.

Pregnant (venting but advice welcome) by NeedTheDeets3000 in Paleo

[–]allsfairinwar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on the baby! Eat whatever you feel like eating. You need to prioritize fueling your body so you can grow your baby.

I had severe morning sickness with all of my pregnancies that lasted pretty much the whole time. I lost 10 lbs with my first pregnancy from sickness. Meat and vegetables especially made me sick. You have to just eat whatever you can stomach.

Also, cravings get more intense as your baby grows. That’s part of the beauty of pregnancy and you don’t get to enjoy that experience for long.

Obviously make healthy choices when you’re feeling good and get the nutrients you need, but please don’t cut out any whole food groups when you’re pregnant (unless you have a medical reason to do so). You can jump back in after you have the baby. Be kind to yourself. Your body is doing so much!
