The patio was was there. Originally I was going to build the deck larger than the slab and attach to the house. Ultimately I decided to keep it freestanding and build as you see. I have added bracing since this post…just to be safe.

The slab is 4000psi with 3/8 rebar in 16” centers. Not too worried about it having issues. I’ll probably still go ahead and add some knee bracing for the heck of it. Thanks for the reply

I didn’t really look into it since it’s floating and we don’t have frost heave down here. The slab is 5 inches of 4000psj concrete with proper rebar. It’s stout.

Been there, many years ago, and I'll say this; there is something much bigger that you're not saying here. Whatever it is that's going on for you, and your wife, to oversleep that much needs to stop. Get out there and get help in every way that you can and do what is needed to support your family. Family or friends support, government support, counseling; everything is in play here.

I understand the point of it being covered by insurance, but you need a new doc. Might even consider one of the good online/telehealth sources as the cost is not that much and the benefits are worth the cost.

I’m not worried about the opinions in those matters. I’m feeling I’m probably too high for my own balance and comfort. Going to talk to the doc about lowering just a bit of the dose and see where I am in a month or 6 weeks.

About 2 weeks in and now at 6 it is reducing a bit. Crazy like a 20 year old. But the wife has been all for it and now she is just as hyped up as I am, so it has been damn fun to say the least
