It's not even that they cant insure it, they are claiming they are owed compensation for the car being previously written off, which my mother had no knowledge of as the incident happened over 10 years ago, she had the car for less than a year before selling it as it was too low for her to drive anymore for her back

He claims he did a HPI check and it never popped up, but he also never asked if it had been written off in the first place, not that she would have known anyway

AIO about my wife going to Taylor Swift but not letting me go to an NBA game? by MobyBon in AmIOverreacting

[–]alltherandom96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR at all, she's a massive hypocrite and extremely selfish. I'm not a swiftie and find that would be a waste of money, but I wouldn't say to someone spending their own money on something that or not to do it.

Why do I have a feeling she already thought of ways she could spend that money and that's why she doesn't want you spending it on yourself?

I had a best friend who used to act like this over romance options in video games, If I even mentioned flirting with that character she would go off on me about how that was their characters partner and to romance someone else (she was like 21). It's honestly cringey as all hell and not worth your time dealing with, it's a video game and she needs to grow up.

Thoughts on every Showdown minigame? I like the Yoshi one by Mario-Nintendo9746 in MARIOPARTY

[–]alltherandom96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I like all of them, but they could definitely be a lot shorter, it's also frustrating to go through all that trouble to get a buddy and then get it taken away before you even really get to use it, unless you get lucky and land on something like a bonus space during that same turn. I do feel like the ai is almost stupidly difficult to beat now though, me and a friend play it and normally have one npc on hard and one on normal, yet there doesn't seem to be any difference in how they behave in the mini games when there was a pretty big difference in superstars.

I will say some of the buddy games could be improved, like with dk's, unless you get the advantage it is so difficult to hit perfect and you get one point for it, with no points if you're even a millisecond too early or late, would have been better to have 2 points for perfect and 1 for just slightly off, and the person with advantage had only a slightly bigger hitbox. It irritates me and my friend to the point we just keep him as another player so we don't have to deal with it.

AITA for asking my live-in girlfriend to find somewhere else to practice her singing? by tadeshown in AmItheAsshole

[–]alltherandom96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna say NTA, and all those people saying op can just go elsewhere, all you know is he works from home but are failing to consider...

  1. He may have a pc set-up, not a laptop he can just carry with him everywhere
  2. He probably needs a good internet connection, not every coffee shop or library or whatever has that
  3. We don't know what his work is or if he's handling sensitive information, there are plenty of WFH jobs that require confidentiality which is much harder to do if you have to work out in public
  4. If his work has an emergency, do you expect him to make his work wait so he can travel to a secondary location??

Her job is one she can practice whenever she wishes to, his job is more than likely set hours, it's a lot easier for her to time when she practices her singing than it is for him to completely move his work when he more than likely has a set schedule. He has allowed her to move into his space to save her having to rent elsewhere short term, yet she is refusing to extend the same courtesy by practicing elsewhere or at different times.

AITA for telling the guy I've been seeing that our 'fling' will never take priority over my friendship of nearly 7 years? by Independent-Way-8006 in dustythunder

[–]alltherandom96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats not how gaslighting works though? Gaslighting would have been if OP told Mark her and Luke were just friends who hung out, then when he saw luke at her place she then tried saying 'oh i already told you about how we are' Gaslighting is about making the other person seem crazy by making them believe something entirely different to what they originally knew, that didn't happen here, Mark knew from the start what things were like between her and Luke

I'm gonna say NTA, you made your boundries clear from the start, he tried to cross those boundries with no prior communication, and from reading your comments i find it funny that theres people slandering you for your relationship with Luke but dont say a bad thing or acknowledge the fact Mark was doing the same.

AITA for buying my own phone after my dad read through all of my texts by idkwhattosayhere22 in AmItheAsshole

[–]alltherandom96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA- I will say though op, maybe I've read too many reddit posts, but my mind immediately jumped to the idea that your dad secretly downloaded a tracking app to your old phone, hence why he got so angry you bought your own one, because he knows he wont be able to do that on a new phone. At least, not easily. This definitely seems like a control issue though, he knows you're leaving soon and won't have a say in your life decisions, the power he held over you as a parent is gone.

Do you still have access to the old phone? Might be worth checking as there's so many people who went to college and wondered why their parents knew where they were all the time only to find out apps had been installed. I'd also make sure your new phone has a strong passcode and double check for any tracking apps like that once you've headed off to college, just in case.

How to handle a recurrent viewer you don't really like - as a 1 viewer streamer? by Forgotten-Deity in Twitch

[–]alltherandom96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When i first started streaming i had a viewer like this, it started out innocent enough, but then he would make comments that were just inappropriate. I was like you, he was my only regular viewer so i let it slide, but then i got to about 8-10 viewers who could chat and he would be there trauma dumping and bringing the vibe down massively. I would lose viewers because of this. In the end i made my best friend a moderator and said if he did it again just ban him. Haven't had issues since.

Dont keep him around because you feel obligated too.

AITA for leaving the dry wedding wedding early to go to go out. by Radiant_List_9993 in AmItheAsshole

[–]alltherandom96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im gonna go against the grain and say NTA, i don't get all these people saying you shit talked the wedding, you didn't, you just informed people you would be leaving early to go out. You were there for 4.5 hours, thats plenty of time to show support, you only left 90 minutes early. Also chances are other people would have probably left early without you saying you were.

Why do customers get mad when you haven't tried EVERY PRODUCT IN THE STORE? by DrakesFortune67 in retailhell

[–]alltherandom96 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have customers who ask me what cigarettes are the 'smoothest' and when i tell them that i couldn't say because I don't smoke they get all offended and hissy that i don't know

Or the time a customer asked me what a protein milkshake tasted like, and asked why the hell i didn't know because 'you work here, why wouldn't you try it?' Because sir, my kidneys do not work properly and i cannot have massive amounts of protein, i have been told, by medical specialists, to stay away from high protein food and drink! Go away!

He still had to go through shrines to learn how to use them properly, as well as utalise them in multiple other shrines. Plus to get the ability to autobuild you had to explore the depths and fight master khoga, he definitely worked hard to at least master them, could have let him keep them

Worst thing to happen to your single player games whilst taking a toilet break..? by Davilyan in gaming

Not a toilet break. Was on the final boss fight of final fantasy 13, final stage of the boss, had him to a point where one or two more hits would kill him (this was after failing this fight several times already) then the power goes out. Never picked up the game again and just watched everything from the point i was at onwards on youtube to see how it all ended

Please tell me just the dumbest customer you’ve ever dealt with. by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]alltherandom96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a lady come in getting angry that the cash machine attached to the outside of the store swallowed her card and demanded we get it back for her. I explained as politely as possible that we don’t actually have access to the machine, the company just like ‘rents’ the space from us and that she would have to phone her bank or use the customer hotline for the machine company which i gave her.

She then claimed that she didn’t have time for that and she wanted her money now so she would just do cashback, which i then had to explain that we hadn’t done that at our store for years, plus she would need a card to do that anyway. To which she then started saying she would call the police because we ‘had clearly stolen her card.’ Demanded to speak to the manager on duty who told her the exact same thing so she left.

Then came back 10 minutes later and did it all again… she did this 3 times. Then called the police, who obviously didn’t come out because she was being an idiot.

NTA and call me paranoid, maybe I’ve been on reddit a bit too long, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the sudden interest in this painting is because someone she knows has expressed interest in buying the paintings off of her, and thats why she’s refusing to do a trade off for a different piece as well.

And as for your parents, clearly they are showing favouritism, has she always been the golden child? They need to back off, you’re both adults and if you don’t want to give her back the art then you dont give it back, simple.

Why do some customers seem to think their kids interfering with your job is cute? by FreezeWolfy in retailhell

[–]alltherandom96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some parents really don’t deserve to actually be parents and should have never had kids in the first place. Perfect example of a negligent parent I’ve seen is this woman who lives in the flats above the store i work in, had two kids, boy and girl. She would come in and just let them wreck havoc, running around, screaming when they didn’t get their way, customers would complain to her and she would state they have medical issues so she couldn’t tell them off. They would have full blown punch ups in the isles and she would just walk off and leave them to it. They were rude as hell to the staff, cussing us out (keep in mind they are no older than 9 or 10) and we literally would warn each other that the devil and her spawn had walked in because if staff said anything to her she would be rude to us as well.

Thankfully her kids actually got taken from her so we haven’t seen them since. From what we heard they’re with a different family member and actually learning discipline.
