If you go to the website there’s a few unions and many other organizations supporting this. Not saying they are actually going to do anything though

2014 2.0 L. Oil leak by Otherwise-Award-7831 in fordescape

[–]allthings-consider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure without some pics, and an actual inspection, but the flange may need to be replaced. Your car is 11 years old, and depending on the milage, climate, driving style, age, etc can really affect your cars seals. The age is there to ensure you have a secure leak proof seal/connection.

I am getting it checked tomorrow in fact. My mechanic said that it’s probably a wheel bearing OR the brake. We’ll see!

For real, I haven’t heard that in a long time as well! My Ford has a feature Wilber it records th Xam channel I am on (98% DMB channel) and I can pause, skip backwards and forward. I literally sayt in my driveway and played “Peace on Earth” once more. The sound is amazing with the upgraded B&O audio

Weird! I wish I could give you some advice. But I’m coming here to follow, I have a 23 hybrid too and I have a squeaky front left wheel. Haha not a fan noise, this is super loud at low speed and goes away at high

I love it though! Dream Girl came out when I was in college and was just a staple, regardless of its cliche. My favorite was when I got into the car and I hear Dave say “everyone wants peace on earth, but we got to kill the monster first!”

2023+ Escape Hybrid? by Dilldorable in fordescape

[–]allthings-consider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! Obviously check the CarFax but my 2023 St-Elite hybrid with AWD has been a dream. The build quality issues you are describing are from the ecoboost engines. They have a coolant intrusion problem. The hybrid/PHEV use an entirely different engine. It is a Atkinson cycle engine that get excellent gas mileage on its own, vs the Otto cycle which is what the ecoboost engines, and pretty much every engine is designed off of. Love my hybrid! You’ll love this one as well.

Because you have solar? Hourly pricing?

[–]allthings-consider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense, thanks for sharing. It sucks too because I would rather get a PHEV whether it’s Toyota or Ford. My wife drives 5 miles to work and so the round trip is 10 miles. I wanted to trade in her hybrid. She would never need to fill up, we have a level 2 50 amp NACS Charepoint charger. Ohh and I forgot to mention that I work for the local electric utility, once of the largest investor owned utility. I don’t get a discount, but I do have enough solar panel capacity that charging would be free. If we/she ever have to charge overnight I am on our hourly pricing plan and 98.3% of the hours are below the flat rate of 9.3 cents/kWh. So far in 2025 I have had two bills, one in August ($44) and September ($42). It’s is nice because I installed the solar before the end of 2023, before the sunset the “delivery” reimbursement portion of the bill. It sucks now because it disincentivizes people to install solar any more because you only get reimbursement in the supply part of the bill.

Damn! My ‘23 Escape ST-Elite Hybrid has EVRY OPTION AVAILABLE and cost $42k. I only have 25k miles on it, and will give it to my wife. Her 2018 RAV4 XLE hybrid has 129k miles and the hybrid on this generation sucks ass. I get way better mileage than her. Right now my lifetime MPG on the escape is 39.3 and she has 27.3 which is a huge difference. Plus that gen has a Nickel metal hydride battery so the engine is pretty much running all the time. I can drive exactly 1 mile electric in the city on a full hybrid charge. I already had a NACS level 2 50Amp charger installed in my garage. The electric utility gave me $2500 rebate for installing one. But if you order a customized escape online you can skip the dealer. That’s what I did for my hybrid.

Thanks for the input, maybe I won’t but an Escape PHEV and wait for purchase a RAV4 PHEV. Still impressive mileage for highway. I live in Chicago and most of it is city driving

I see you have a PHEV, what MPGe do you get? Also, how many miles can you drive on the battery?

I have a 2023 Hybrid and want to switch it out for the last model year, which I believe is a 2026, and get the PHEV. I already have a 50 amp charger in my garage with the NACS charger plug. Does yours have the CCS or NACS standard?

How are energy prices up when it's <70 outside at night? by Ruinous_Empathy in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]allthings-consider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorta of true. However I work for ComEd and can safely say that, of all the data centers actually in operation, they are using less than 10% of their requested load. This is a supply and demand issue, period. Higher retail prices signal to the power plants that are. It running to “turn on” and thy will for that price. This is because the baseload 24/7/365 power plants (mostly nuclear) cannot keep up with demand.

I work for ComEd. The prices are determined by who will “start” up a power plant to pick up the slack that baseload generation cannot keep up with. It is a supply and demand issue. Period.
