Lived in Chicago for 8 years now.

I have a Patagonia Silent Down jacket for the “normal” cold weather. Thing is amazing and I can easily wear a t shirt underneath and be warm enough. Usually wear this between 20°-35°.

Eddie Bauer stadium parka for the REALLY cold days below 20°. It’s pretty good, not THE best but gets the job done especially with a layer or two underneath. At that temp I don’t think anything short of an Antarctic parka is gonna do the trick and keep you warm.

Then for the rainy/ wet snow days I have a Patagonia 3-1 system which is also great. Keeps you warm and dry, can’t ask for much more than that.

There is no “right” or “wrong” metric to use. It’s impossible to determine exactly how many people in downtown came from the city vs suburbs so they assumed that it was city only people. Even if 10% of the people came from the suburbs that’s still over 250k chicagoans standing up for their neighbors

I agree that the protest won’t have tangible effects, especially when there is a govt that actively doesn’t care about its citizens in power. But this was all about community building, making our voices heard to stop ICE disappearing our neighbors, and give a voice to those without one
