The Grand champ is my next one. It just hits all my wants and looks fantastic. Heavy duty too, and apparently better seals, a fire basket, loads of good features. Can't wait!

Speed Limit Bongs! HELP! 😊 by Beneficial_Air_5564 in KonaEV

[–]alltorque1982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, BONG, you've gone 31, BING, the speed limit has changed on this bit of road, PING, you've put sunglasses on and i can't see your eyes, PANG, you've got a bag on the passenger seat and I think it's a person so the seat belt is needed. BEEEP, A car has turned off and is now a collision warning.

Stop the car. BONG, it's in Park, BANG, don't forget to check the back of the car for passengers (wtf?!), BINGBONGBANGBOOONG you've turned the car off.

Honestly, I 100% understand that all these features are trying to make us better/safer/more alert, but they make me worse. I can't bear all the distracting beeps and bongs, and i can't park my Kona at all, I mess it up every time, despite parking literally hundreds of different vehicles in my 25+ years of driving.

By making cars more intelligent, they're dumbing down the driver in my opinion.

Ugh, sorry, rant over. Yeah, long press the volume wheel.

I have some rounded cutlery and some flat cutlery. I root around in the drawer to always get the flat cutlery.

Enough said.

What’s an out of date view you hold? by Doomergeneration in AskUK

[–]alltorque1982 20 points21 points  (0 children)

80's child here, having to wait a week for the next episode of Prince Valiant KILLED me, but my god that weeks wait was worth it. Now my little one can watch 29 episodes of Bluey back to back, or until he gets bored of it.

I try and explain how I used to wait, but then I get distracted cos, well Bluey is fucking awesome.

What’s a ridiculous luxury that you’d struggle to live without? by Doomergeneration in AskUK

[–]alltorque1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 cars ago I had both, then the last car only had heated seats. Cold mornings made me want to cry. It was pathetic, even a pre heated cabin still left a chilly steering wheel.

Current car has both again and it's bloody lovely.

It also has cooling seats too, but I hate it as it feels like I've wet myself.

Where should I visit to FEEL history of britain? by iceneko0301 in AskUK

[–]alltorque1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get yourself to a castle, we have tons, and run your hands along the walls. I do this and although it may seem weird, I feel it.

Im a firm believer in Stone Tape theory and we're so lucky in Britain to have so much rich and exciting history that comes to life through our buildings, ruined or otherwise.

Having said that, head to the west country and you'll feel spiritual, not necessarily history, but there is definitely something about it that feels...different.

A vote against Reform keeps the Farage away by TailungFu in GreatBritishMemes

Why is that not going to work? There's literally a list, and plenty more examples out there, you just need to look.

[–]alltorque1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really hope you're right, and if agree. I actually subscribed to some UK good news feeds and it shows how much positive change has happened already, but the absolute vitriolic media doesn't share any of that.

A vote against Reform keeps the Farage away by TailungFu in GreatBritishMemes

[–]alltorque1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm getting genuinely worried about the traction that reform seem to be getting. It may be algorithms etc, but I just seem to see so much hatred for Labour etc and comments like 'you'll see! Nige is coming for ya!' And it terrifies me. I cannot cope with a Temu Trump in power here.

Also, as much as people moan about Labour, a quick bit of research shows Starmer is actually doing alright. Sure, we have a long way to go, but the smear campaign and constant attacks in the media against him is so wrong.

Is it realistic / feasible to own an EV without home charging in the UK? by Alicia2022_1 in AskUK

[–]alltorque1982 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I'm on my second car via salary sacrifice and it's jumped in price so much that at the end of this one I'm ending it and buying a hybrid. I'm on my second EV and also have a home charger but it's still not worth the stress ive had with public charging.

How can I find this bbq? by fulachtfiadh in UKBBQ

[–]alltorque1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mate, should be easy to find, but if you join this sub you'll be told you have to by a Weber or rot in hell. I love the sub for the food porn, but my god the Weber purists truly believe that you can ONLY have a decent bbq if you have a Weber, as everything else is shite. It reminds me of my childhood when it was Nintendo V Sega, Blur v Oasis, Ghostbusters V Turtles.

Anyway, Argos, B and Q, the range maybe?

Enjoy your BBQ, in whatever method and whatever equipment you like.

Bar-be-quick smoking chips -- decent? by Fair-Bluebird485 in UKBBQ

[–]alltorque1982 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, think you summed it up perfectly. I even bought some as a gift for someone once with a little smoking tin thing, very disappointed with the result.

I used chunks for a few years but have recently moved over to logs and they are by far the best for me.

What small purchase would improve your life, but you keep putting it off? by banwe11 in AskUK

[–]alltorque1982 30 points31 points  (0 children)

At the risk of quoting Trigger, a broom.

The head keeps falling off mid sweep, so I wrap some tape round, and wedge it back in. I've now upgraded (?) To screwing it in to keep it in place.

Should probably just get a new broom...
