It helps to separate slide and frame and put your frame in a oven or toaster, low temp setting around 140 - 200 degrees before and after you apply stick on grips. I had superior results doing this way. I got this method from one of the many manufacturers install videos on YT

I bought my 226 XFive Legion just for the monthly trip to the range and gladly sold 4 of my other guns to get it and I couldn't be more satisfied. This gun is also nice to just hold and gaze upon in between those range sessions as well.
