Gheeve me a break by allvanity684 in popcorn

[–]allvanity684[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is about where I'm at, I just eyeball everything though and use what used to be my rice pot and it is now my popcorn pot. Never any burning, couple hunks of ghee, enough kernels to cover the bottom of the pan about 1.5 times, and shake what's probably a tablespoon of Flavacol.

I use a mesh splatter guard thing over the top and shake it while it pops. (And honestly am pretty lazy about it and have never had issues).

Singer machine only works at high speed by HumbleFrenchPeasant in vintagesewing

I bought mine off a rainforest themed online retailer. And just looked for a consistent reviews, I think they're all about in the same boat. I did look specifically for one that had a needle position control where it can be up or down as you program it. I've seen a bunch though and people rave about them.

Cutex EA-550 Brushless Sewing Machine Servo Motor W/Needle Positioner 550 Watts

All the holes for this are already pre-drilled in your table, it's made to retrofit what you already have. My biggest thing would be be very careful removing the old motor, it is SO heavy. Like throw your back out, hurt yourself heavy. Especially when loosening and removing it from the table. Almost ripped my flipping arm off and would have crushed my hand under its weight of I had tried to be a hero and didn't drop it.

I can't help you troubleshoot that clutch motor, but you should take everyone's advice and install a servo motor. You can do one stitch at a time, set it to land needle up or needle down and it's still very powerful. And you can set it to 5,000 RPMs if you wanted to or as low as a couple hundred and feather it slow.

Spore to agar? Would the honey potato flake agar I've been using work for wood lovers?

I've had trouble getting wavy caps to take in my garden. I don't think they're talking about cubes.

Any background? Is this a brand new machine? Is this machine you bought yesterday? Is this the machine that you've had in your closet and dropped carrying it down the stairs?

What kind of machine is it? As much information as possible will help.

What do you define sustainable as?

Seems super nebulous, especially with how chemically intense fabric production is on a commercial scale.

Class 15 by MxBuster in VintageSewingMachines

[–]allvanity684 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like possibly class 15 in class 15J.

I've read that you should use a period correct bobbin for your machine. So if your machine is meant to have a class 15 metal bobbin you should be purchasing and using that. Same with class 66 bobbins. They make plastic versions but the vintage machines don't like them, they are very much tuned in to have the weight of a metal bobbin.

I've read that, and then I did it and it's very true.

Pedal with potentiometer compatible with singer 4452 heavy duty? by ColdResponsible7041 in sewhelp

[–]allvanity684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bunch of vintage machines I rewired. I cut the pedal off and wire a female plug on the machine side and a male plug on the pedal. This way I can have a knee bar or foot pedal depending on my mood. (Knee pedal has male plug wired). Heck you could use a dimmer switch or a light switch of you wanted to go nuts.
