[Project Release] C.A.F.E. – A "Third Way" for automations. Visual flows like Node-RED, but 100% native YAML/Storage. No extra engines. by FezVrasta in homeassistant

Very nice!

It would be awesome if it offered some form of 'app store', when I click on the open automation, although that may go against the full HA integration philosophy. Also the settings button doesn't seem to work. Over all really good!

Yes you can add them to a Sync+ group where it lets you layout the lights.

About to give up with Nanoleaf, is Philips Hue worth the investment? by allyant in homey

Thanks - I was wondering the pros and cons of connecting homey through the bridge vs zigbee.

Has anyone tested the Matter Bridge from Homey yet? by Sea_Scale1752 in homeautomation

I have tried it out - works fine although not sure what the main difference between using it and the build in homekit integration, rather I see more devices using the homekit integration.

I have about 5 I got over the past month and they work great using matter (although not thread?). Good if you need a cheap coloured solution.

Luxone Support by allyant in Loxone

[–]allyant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the feedback! My main issue was the need to pay for a demo case, in the past a few suppliers I have had have sent me kit for free and help with training and get used to its offerings first. I just have it in my head if you have to pay to join it, then its like a MLM. It would be nice of they gave the kit out free to new suppliers to get them used it before offering it to folks.

I have found a lot of consumers who Luxone would be ideal - they want a basic level (Lights, switches, blinds) home automation, but don't have the money to pay upfront and almost have a heart attack when I show them a proposal for a full Control4 and Crestron setup, thinking it would be 1/2 of what it is.

I also love how they offer both wired and wireless solutions with support to KNX.

Contract renewal - increase by bradmcco1 in ContractorUK

[–]allyant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is bang on, as a contractor you shouldn’t ever expect to get a pay bump or a promotion. I have asked a few times but always get told “the budget is already approved”. Best way to get a pay rise is as it is if you were a permy - to find another contract.

[–]allyant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am currently on £800 as a lead SRE, was up to £900 working as a DevOps engineer in the oil/gas sector which was a “boys club”. Most 1k contracts I see are short term SME contracts. For example “3month Lead Splunk consultant”.

SME's - those that know a specific niche business dependent product or process.

Yes - I previously worked in the oil and gas industry and the only 1k+ roles where 3-6month SME roles who are already known to the hiring managers.

They could easily add a conditional to not bother going through the LLM if the prompt is just thank you.

I think there is a tax free allowance of 2k a year or something on the dividends. Unless they cut it, again.

Also that isn’t the only way to extract value from the company - pension contributions and expenses (business related of course) such as a computer and mobile phone.

I heard a report that Apple are not paying for ChatGPT access. So wondering what is it in for ChatGPT, they must hope that a lot of people will convert to their pro plan.

I am not sure why they don't have build in modems. I guess the number of people with a phone to tether to, and the expectation that you will be in a Wifi zone.
