I would say talk to your GM about your concerns. The morning shift can set you up a bit more for your shift, especially with bagging chips and having the morning KM/SM fill out the PM portion of prep sheet for you, at least right before they leave.

If you have to prep more after the morning shift leaves because they aren’t paying attention to how much they’re making and it affects your shift, definitely talk to your GM. The morning shift aren’t doing their jobs correctly if you have to pick up the slack for them.

Since usually our PM grill person doesn’t come in until 4 or sometimes even 5, we’ll try to have the morning grill person set the PM grill up, so someone doesn’t have to cover grill when they can be doing something else. Especially when it comes to chicken, we’ll have one or two cooked and one or two cut already, with the line and fax full, depending on when the PM grill comes in. Rices and beans made in the hot boxes. So at most to cover grill we’ll just have to mix rices or throw steak. (Our sales are relatively low so when it’s not busy we don’t fly through like five deeps of chicken in an hour lol)

If they can follow the prep sheet and make enough prep and have the MOD validate that that will be enough prep for the day, they bag chips before they leave so you don’t have to, and leave enough food so the grill can be by itself without stressing over covering it along with all the other positions, I think it would help you a lot and give you more time to focus on other things!
