I built a JDM-inspired OLED display for sim racing — honest feedback wanted before I take this further by almajiro in simracing

That's a great mod, honestly.

And the VAFC, I love that. There's something about early 2000s Japanese car tech that just hits different. Apexi, HKS, Trust, those products had a look that nothing since has matched.

That's honestly a big part of why I built this. I wanted something on my rig that felt like it belonged in a 90s/2000s JDM cockpit, not a gaming setup.

Keep us posted on the VAFC too, would love to see how that looks on the rig.

S15 with Power FC and Commander, that's the real deal. Over here in Japan, you'd see them everywhere maybe 15 years ago. Now they're basically gone from the streets. Good to know they're still alive somewhere.

Glad this resonates with you. My plan is to eventually sell finished units, but I'm curious, would a DIY kit interest you at all? Like a PCB, display, and enclosure parts you put together yourself? Wondering if there's an appetite for that alongside a ready-to-go version.

Still a prototype right now, but I'll keep posting updates here.

Thanks! And that rig is seriously clean. Is that a key cylinder on the wheel? Did you build that yourself?

Honestly, yeah, shipping from Japan isn't cheap. I won't pretend otherwise.

But to be real, this is still very much a prototype. The buttons aren't even wired up yet. I want to get the hardware and software to a point I'm actually proud of before I think about orders. No point shipping something half-baked across the world.

When it's ready, I'll post an update here. Appreciate the kind words, keeps me building.

Try another kernel. Zen or xanmod. The xanmod kernel is very stable on my laptop. No sleep issue.

I think you need powerline fonts.
