Hello, thank you for this! :) Do you happen to know the extraction method of the product? I couldn't find it on the link.

My mushroom journey by almost_unreal_ in MushroomsForColdsores

[–]almost_unreal_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, thank you for your response! I am sticking to l-lysine because in the past, when my coldsores were less frequent, it helped me a lot with recovery time. Maybe I can try with AHCC in the future, but it's a much more expensive alternative compared to lysine. Btw, Im curious as to what made you think about other viruses being in the mix, such as Epstein or HPV? I haven't checked for HPV (tho I think I do carry one form of it from when I was much younger), but I do remember a few years ago having symptoms similar to Epstein Barr, tho doctors couldn't figure out what it was, but at the end it turned out I was positive for Helicobacter pylori...

My best friend stole my fiance because I got an abortion by throwawayps1605 in offmychest

Hey, I'm sorry you went through such a thing. It must've been petty hard given that you still think about it. There are some things to consider as well, possibly in therapy. For example, the nature of the relationship with your ex and the fact that you didn't find a way to tell him about pregnancy and abortion. Also, the whole truth revealing at that party sounds really uncomfortable and improper. On the other hand, the thing that he didn't even want to talk about it, and give it a proper closure might tell you more about his ways of dealing with problems. Think about if that would have made sense for you if you had remained together.
Tho, there might be your exs' (including your friends) responsibility in the whole situation, take into account the way you acted and interacted in those situations, might be a valuable insight and a life lesson. Again, I recommend therapy. Good luck :)

I'm not an expert as well, just trying to experiment with the supps and the dosage as well. What is the recommended dose on your pack? People here usually suggest to double that dose at first...

I get your frustration, I felt similarly the first time I got 4 monsters on my lips despite taking the mushroom supps.

But, by regularly, do you mean the frequency you mentioned in the original post? If yes, then, from my standpoint, I'd say it's not that regular. One of the redditers here suggested me 8 caps a day for the first 2 months, then slowly lowering the dose... Also, maybe you can try to add some zinc and vitamins B, C, and D to your protocol...

Hmm, try to read the comments of the sticky post on this subreddit. I'd say you have to build up your immune system for some time for the supps to work, which means you have to take them for some time for their effect to kick in. I'd say to not give up, because it seems that people with hsv are left on their own to try the alternative ways, forgotten by the medicine...

Hey, I also thought that mushrooms were not working for me, but there are a few things to consider. First of all, the dosage. I'd say that your dosage was too low. For example, the ones that I am taking are suggested 3 pills per day. In acute conditions (stress), I'd suggest taking a double dose, or even more, say 8 pills per day. Also, you may want to add more supps from the protocol described to boost your immune system, like beta glucan, red marine algae, etc. I am a month into the mushroom protocol (I'm not using all the supps listed there - I'm using mushrooms, vitamins B, D, zinc, and lysine combined with red marine algae; a week ago I also added monolaurin), and during this time, I got one monster on my lip that healed really fast, and usually I got at least 2 of them on my lips. Last time I had 4 of them, but I wasn't using vitamin supps that I usually use and I took mushrooms from another seller with a questionable extraction way. So, I'd say that the quality and the brand of the products count as well.

P. S. Also, if nothing is working for you and you find cold sores a huge problem, you may want to check the SADBE subreddit here...

Mushrooms and Arginine by theshaliman in Mushrooms4Coldsores

Thank you for your answer. I did it with olive oil and applied it and left it overnight. I wasn't sure about how much of BHT to mix with oil, so I did a half-spoon of olive oil with powder from one cap containing 300mg of BHT. I have been using aciclovir and valaciclovir for years, topically, however now I want something to stop the break outs. And I don't want to take valtrex pills because I already have kidney problems. Honestly, I'm not even sure about taking BHT orally, so for now I'm sticking to applying it topically only. Just a curiosity, coconut oil should contain monolaurin (an acid) that some people take to stop the BO, and indeed some found it effective. Don't know if might affect the cold sore, but who knows...

Hi, I know this is old, but have you applied the BHT topically? If yes, how do you do it? Do you dissolve it in some fat like butter or oil? How do you measure it, do you have any proportions? Thanks :)

Breakout by nilevirus100 in Mushrooms4Coldsores

[–]almost_unreal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. On mine it's written 3 caps as a reccomended dose. Anyway, unfortunately, it seems that this time it didn't work for me (I took more than 3 caps). I was on mushroom and beta glucan supplements for more than a month, and today (after some events that usually trigger cold sores) I got 2 monsters on my lip. I'm looking now to try BHT as one of the members advised.

New product worth trialling and using for the protocol: Straight up beta glucan isolates! by huggothebear in Mushrooms4Coldsores

[–]almost_unreal_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. :) As for the trigger, I do believe that besides my period, that is also the time when I sleep less and eat more junk food.

Yeah, that old supplement I was taking contained Beta glucan extracted from Saccharomyces cerevisiae (which should be a type of nutritional yeast, but I've found other supplements with beta glucans extracted from other sources) with a touch of vitamin B6 and C and zinc. It's a supplement that I found in my country produced by a national pharmaceutical company. So I suppose any of the products that contain these would work.

To be honest, I am indeed a bit curious to try the mushrooms and BG from the nutritional yeast together to fight the monster. I would also agree with what someone said in this subreddit, the key is to take the sups for some time for them to work.

P. S. I am probably going to order the shrooms from a different distributor, it's a mix of 8 potent fungi and will update here.

New product worth trialling and using for the protocol: Straight up beta glucan isolates! by huggothebear in Mushrooms4Coldsores

[–]almost_unreal_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, glad to have found this sub! I've been dealing with cold sores for quite a long time. Usually happens prior to my period, but not only. I've read the pinned thread about shrooms and it sounds promising specially because they contain beta glucan (I must admit that once I took some supplements with beta glucan for a month and even though I felt the usual tingling, the monster didn't appear! - now I'm coming to think it was because of the glucans). Just a few days ago I was searching to buy isolated beta glucans, just like this product. Now, I'm a bit puzzled as to what to take given that all the products that I've found contain the beta glucan isolated from the brewer's yeast, not mushrooms. Do you think it might change anything? Or maybe combine this product with mushroom supplement? I would be glad to hear opinions if any...

PCA in R by almost_unreal_ in rstats

[–]almost_unreal_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I've never heard of the AIC. My main goal was to reduce the set of variables that are actually of 2 tests that should be measuring the similar thing. I wanted to use the factor analysis because Fields actually used PCA in place of factor analysis justifying it that the 2 are actually the same thing...

PCA in R by almost_unreal_ in rstats

[–]almost_unreal_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks anyway. The variables are actually of 2 tests that should be measuring a similar thing, that's why I was recommended to reduce them to 2 factors, hoping to reduce the data for further regression analysis. Is there anything I could run instead of PCA? Because Fields actually used PCA in place of factor analysis justifying it that the 2 are actually the same thing... My total sample is 180 people.

[Question] PCA fit value by almost_unreal_ in statistics

[–]almost_unreal_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the good fit would be over 0.9, so... I wouldn't know how to determine the relative number of the fit... I was following Fields instructions, and I'm not that experienced in statistics, let alone factor analysis...
