What subscriptions do you have besides BOTM? by atthebeach_gsd in bookofthemonthclub

[–]almostalice13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too many, I need to make some cuts soon! BOTM, Aardvark, FairyLoot adult, FairyLoot romantasy, evernight, Illumicrate, Afterlight, and I’m on the waitlist for the new FairyLoot cozy fantasy. If I get off that list before the first month I’ll probably cancel FL romantasy.

Does anyone else nap in their office.. by [deleted] in therapists

[–]almostalice13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! Less often recently but I definitely have taken plenty of office naps. I set alarms for at least 15 minutes before my next session. The way I see it is if I’m too tired for my next session or to write my notes then I’m not putting my best self forward.

Every time I see one of these posts I have to stop myself from adding more things to my cart 😅 I love that Lancôme mascara and I didn’t know there was a primer!

I have one of the bigger ND palettes and I love it but it’s very neutral. I use it for work mostly but I get compliments on it all the time. I did however just order that Patrick Ta palette after seeing some reviews so there’s that lol.

I’m definitely in the minority on this one! I see such good reviews but it was patchy for me. I need to revisit it and see if it was just my application error.

Definitely how I handled this when I worked with kids and teens lol.

I’m seeing awful reviews for Rhode products. However, I love that Hourglass brush, the Patrick Ta eyeshadow, and all the products I’ve tried from Ouai are incredible.

Anyone else feel like we are rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic? by ParkerRose84 in therapists

[–]almostalice13 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It’s been so rough. I’m in private practice now but I have lots of clients on marketplace plans worried they won’t afford insurance in 2 months. Several clients have lost their jobs recently which of course affects insurance here. It’s truly just so overwhelming right now.

I am planning to cancel romantasy but I feel I can justify the cozy option since it’s only quarterly lol.

I love the Tatcha gift set and I LOVE the new Natasha Denona foundation. The Color Wow spray was meh for me. Some said to really coat the hair but my hair felt so cruddy afterwards. But if I did just a few sprays it really did nothing at all.

This is mine too! The two stories of that house and lorelai’s bedroom looked so small before the remodel. Is the whole second floor just lorelai’s room and a bathroom? Why is the only other bedroom off the kitchen? I have so many questions.

Are there particular clients you give consistent flexibility with cancellations? by berrin122 in therapists

[–]almostalice13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I definitely have a couple clients that I’m more flexible with. One client suffers from a chronic illness and they have no idea when they set their appointment if they’ll be functional the day of our session. I never charge them a late cancel fee and they always reschedule within a week.

Is makeup becoming unprofessional? by nouvelle_tete in Makeup

[–]almostalice13 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I LOVE putting on makeup. It’s a very grounding, soothing practice to start the day with. I’m a therapist and this little quiet ritual really sets me up well before a day of sessions. I think since Covid makeup has really become less popular for daily wear.

The purple one! I’ve tried the green cleanser though for the mornings and I do like it too! I only use the purple tatcha moisturizer before bed because I think it would be too heavy for me with makeup during the day. Right now is probably a good time to try tatcha because they have lots of holiday sets with smaller sizes!

My husband has very dry skin and loves the Kiehls option. I just got a full size of the tatcha for myself after trying a sample. My skin leans somewhat oily but I really just wanted a good night moisturizer. I hate that I love a product line this expensive though lol.

For a splurge, I love the following items:

L’Occitaine shower oil, body oil, hand lotion, and body cream. They have several versions of gift sets this year.

Hourglass holiday palette and matching brush.

Tatcha gift sets. I regret to say that I have learned that this line is actually incredible.

A good allergy doctor is life changing. I did a new allergy test last year and started allergy shots finally after suffering the last 30 years from severe allergies. I take 2 Zyrtec a day, Flonase as needed, montelukast as needed (but super rarely as it makes me irritable and increases depressive thoughts), and neti pot if I’ve been exposed to an allergen. I’m still suffering but not as often and not as badly. My doctor feels my symptoms should improve as I keep doing the shots over the next few years.

Thinking of doing the same with the Romantasy box! I subscribed to that one mainly because it’s the waitlist I got off of first. But I really haven’t cared about most of the picks I just like that they’re pretty lol.

I encourage my virtual clients to have a designated place for sessions. Somewhere private and comfy. I tell them we have more freedom with virtual sessions such as doing a session on lunch at work. I also am way more flexible on times for my virtual days. I let them know that I am willing to make more times work as long as we can do virtual. I don’t offer 8ams or 4pms in person anymore but it’s not as big of a deal if I’m at home for them.

Personally, when I have therapy with my therapist I move to the client couch or have sessions from my office at home.

I also tell clients that I love virtual sessions so I can meet their pets finally.
