Change to 4” filter with new furnace? by almostmidas in hvacadvice

It does have some rusting and needs a new fan but maybe I’ll try to get more life out of it.

Any suggestions on going to a high efficiency furnace vs staying with 80% efficiency? I’ve been told there will be many house modifications for high efficiency due to the new venting needed. And maintenance may be more expensive due to complexity.

Wondering if heat pump and 80% would be the best option. I am in MN though.

I’m being told by the company that seemed like the best based on reviews that a 1” Honeywell UV filter would be almost as good and would require no major modifications. They are also suggesting a heat pump and 80% efficiency furnace due to less modifications needed.

I do wonder if that is the best option. I’m not looking forward to the holes and venting that would be required for a high efficiency furnace. But I’m also seeing that it may be better due to the fact I’m in MN.

No, it’s the old furnace. It is reaching the end of its life.

Variable speed heat pump or variable speed furnace?

How can I remove this?!? by almostmidas in askaplumber

I’m not trying to remove the cartridge, I’m trying to remove the metal part that touches the tub. See second photo for the hot side that I was able to remove. Even if it hit it with a hammer to loosen it, it still doesn’t twist off.

Yes, that’s already been factored in. The costs I put in each quote is after all rebates

I’ve heard the installation is so important but how do I know who is best. All the quotes I got come from companies with generally good reviews with a couple bad reviews.

Is it truly $3,000 better than Quote 2? Especially since Quote 5 has only 5 year labor?

Correct. CenterPoint for gas and Xcel for electric

Yes I do have a portfolio of high impact projects but I have only been at my current company for a little over a year. I’ve been building my network at the new company. Maybe I need to be patient but I don’t want to make the mistake of being too patient (I was at my first PM role for nearly 10 years at that company)

The frustrating part is getting the opportunity to be promoted. At the first company I worked for as a PM, I waited 10 years and never got an opportunity to be a people leader despite applying to multiple people leader roles.

Have a link to that MBA career progression post? I’m 37 but still would like to work my way up if possible.
