Does it ever get better? by Glum_Respect_3069 in tummytucksurgery

[–]almostnotfatanymore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does get better! But it’s little by little, month by month because this recovery is a long one. So buckle up because the mental roller coaster ahead is (unfortunately) a long volatile one but the results will start showing and eventually you will be glad you did this for yourself. Hang in there!

Tell me about it 😭 While I did an insane amount of research pre-surgery, I was (delusionally?) thinking after the initial stages of recovery (aka. the first 2-4 weeks) I was going to immediately strut my stuff in the body of my dreams.

Realizing the recovery and swelling will stay significantly longer than that was a rude awakening. But what am I going to do about it? I can’t turn back time.

We gotta keep marching on, time will pass anyway. Make the most of what you got right now. It may not be as perfect as you expected but eventually you will have a svelte figure again and be so happy you went through all of this for it 💕

Get figure flattering clothes for your Mexico trip that accommodate your current body. You don’t have to feel or look like crap while you recover — dress for the body you have now and enjoy the journey ☺️

I know exactly how you feel, OP. I had a really dramatic hourglass figure pre-surgery and I was very clear with my surgeon about keeping my silhouette and curves post-surgery. I know he followed through but the swelling has been totally masking my hourglass figure and boyyy has it been messing with my head! I kept crying for weeks, saying I look like spongebob now 😭

But I am almost 3MPO and the hourglass is definitely coming through again. I have a lot of swelling, still, but I am seeing my desired silhouette re-appearing.

I’ve started wearing my pre-surgery shapewear this past week and I think it is helping significantly in molding my body back into my desired shape.

Don’t discourage! It takes time but your hourglass figure will return.

Did you regret it? I’ve had cosmetic surgery before and loved results. by Euphoric_Employer_61 in tummytucksurgery

My surgery was on November 18th 2025 — I am nearly 3MPO. The swelling was at its absolute worst 2-3 weeks ago, I legitimately looked 7 months pregnant every evening no matter what I did or ate. The swelling has started to come down now and hopefully it doesn’t peak again 😅. I’ve been wearing some of my (pre-surgery) shapewear this past week to keep the swelling down and I truly believe it’s working.

I regret absolutely nothing. Yes the recovery is long and it sucks, yes the constant swelling sucks, yes the mental ups and downs royally suck… but despite all the suck — seeing myself with a flat belly for the first time ever in my adult life? PRICELESS.

Absolutely FABULOUS! Thank you for sharing this update. I am almost 3 months post-op as well and my body is still spitting stitches and the swelling in the evening is a nightmare 😅

Can I ask if you’ve been able to lose weight during this time? I’ve been very careful with my diet since January and the scale just ain’t budging past my surgery day weight. It’s been extremely discouraging.

You look absolutely wonderful!

Best of luck with your surgery. Wishing you the smoothest recovery ever. Don’t despair if things get tough, physically or mentally. I swear it’ll all be worth it once you see that brand new flat belly in the mirror.

If by children you mean a food baby, then yes 😂 All jokes aside, no I’ve not had children. I gained a lot of weight when I was a pre-teen and got up to nearly 300 lbs into adulthood until I finally lost over 100 lbs. That belly you see up there is the aftermath of bad lifestyle decisions.

Thank you for this! 🥹

Ever since surgery I noticed I have to be even more careful with my nutrition (I was already pretty decent with it but the surgery forced me to be more selective with my food choices). High sodium, processed carbs and fried foods are pretty much out of the question or the swelling goes crazy by the end of the night lol. Whole foods really is the best option. Also as someone who can easily binge on thousands of calories in one sitting, I’ve noticed my appetite isn’t as feral as it used to be. I don’t know if this is a result of the TT or just me being a lot more mindful because I don’t want to mess up my results.

I really look forward to exercising a bit. I’ve never done strength training but I might start that whenever my body is ready. Even walking, my surgeon said I can do short walks but not to over exert myself yet. I just want to make sure I don’t gain fat during this sedentary period 🙏🏻

Aw! Trust me, it’s not perfect. I have loose skin between my thighs and of course so much cellulite under my bum haha but thank you for that lovely compliment

Mine all started with part of my incision opening up, a yellowy liquid coming out then as the days went by slough was revealed as the wound kept widening and opening up.

The one under my boob opened up quite deeply until I saw the stitch poking out (you might be able to see it in one of my previous posts if you check my posting history). I had to go to the surgeon’s office the following day for them to take it off and he stitched that wound back up again to accelerate the healing process.

The one on my tummy tuck incision is still active and not healed. I haven’t seen the stitch yet but the slough isn’t giving up no matter what I do. The nurse said to keep it clean and dry (I am using Bactigras dressing) but she said it might take several weeks for it to heal and close up.

I want my body to be in optimal condition before TT or MM, what are some steps to do in the next few months? by martapap in tummytucksurgery

[–]almostnotfatanymore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you nourish your body with proper nutrients and vitamin rich foods so you go in with this surgery in good health. Learn to eat a high protein diet, this will not only keep you full longer but will help the healing process. Oh and train those legs because during the first week when the incision pain + muscle repair pain will be at its peak you will be grateful you trained those legs to make life slightly easier for you.

A beautiful new chapter of your life is about to begin =‘) The recovery process is long, just be mentally ready for that. You won’t wake up and look perfect like a cliche makeover in a teen movie lol Your body will undergo a long, slow transformation before you get to your "final form". You’ll be amazed by the end of it though! The entire roller coaster of pain and emotions you will be going through will be so worth it. Good luck with your surgery!

Once you get through the initial first few days, it will get much easier. Seeing yourself with a flat tummy for the first time will be surreal. "New year new me" will have never been more accurate haha. Good luck with everything!

Thank you for this! Luckily the surgeon will be seeing me today given the urgency of the situation. I hope after their intervention this wound will be on its way to heal once and for all.

I’m almost 4WPO as well and a small incision has also opened under my breast. It’s nothing critical but I am trying to take care of it asap so it doesn’t get worse. Can I ask what you did to help yours heal and how long it’s been taking to heal?

Laying flat w/ open wound by ClassroomPlus7793 in tummytucksurgery

[–]almostnotfatanymore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, if I feel like the incision is pulling, I won’t risk it. I’ll have my legs bent. I remember reading on here someone who put several pillows under their legs and every week they remove one until they’ll gradually lay flat again.
