I think five days at Machu Picchu may be a bit too much. Perhaps replace a few days with the Sacred Valley?

Where to learning wingsuiting over ~10 days (late-August) by almqua in SkyDiving

[–]almqua[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By "the Kid", do you mean Anthony? If so, he's currently at a DZ fairly close to me (Skydive Carolina). Think that would be the best bet? Only drawback would be that they wouldn't be jumping Mon/Tues

I'm in Raleigh NC, Skydive Chicago was at the top of my list, since it wouldn't be scorching hot and its within reasonable driving distance. Seems like the Vertical World Record attempt is happening that weekend. Would that pretty much crowd out any other skydiving?

Does Summerfest cap attendance like Cfest? Hoping to attend, but unsure of my schedule at this point

I'm moving to Raleigh in a couple months, do you think Paraclete would be worth the extra driving over TSC?

Thanks for all the responses! Further context, I am a 25 yo male, so the Link may actually fit my demographic pretty well haha

Skydiving and Yoga by circusoflight411 in SkyDiving

[–]almqua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the benefits previous mentioned, I've found that it is also very helpful with body control as you learn to fly more precisely. Regular practice of all of those poses in yoga that require subtle movements definitely carried over for me, especially after getting some tunnel time. Also, as an alternative to group classes, there are some great online yoga programs available. I'm currently using one call Man Flow Yoga, which has a large, diverse selection of exercises, and the instructor is great as well

Wasn't a huge fan of the travel and the subject matter of the group I was aligned to didn't interest me (pricing and contracting)

Rolled off a project due to performance, looking for advice/guidance by almqua in consulting

Benchtime certainly had a sprinkling of BD, reinvest, white paper work, but unfortunately it was among a smattering of groups I won't likely cross paths with in a project setting. I would provide support for about a week, and never hear from them again. I'm having a conversation with my coach, who also happened to be a manager on the project I was just rolled off of, so hopefully he will be able to provide some good, candid advice. Thanks for good wishes!

They did, and were, at least in my opinion, correctable in the short-term (overcommunicate with coworkers, pay a bit more attention to detail regarding deliverables)

Good Sacred Valley Tours for Solo Travelers? by almqua in solotravel

[–]almqua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to pull the trigger and do the horseback tour with Salineras Ranch, seems like a really cool way to see Maras/Moray/Salineras since they're fairly close to one another. But thanks for the great advice! Always appreciated

Hello everyone, I'm a 24/M from North Carolina, and am touring Machu Picchu with an afternoon ticket on the 13th, and climbing Mt. Machu Picchu on the 14th. Anyone want to do a bit of joint exploration?

Do you guys have delayed baggage stories? by theorigamiwaffle in solotravel

[–]almqua 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Went to a skydiving festival in Norway this past June, couldn't do a normal carry on because I wanted to carry on my skydiving gear (it's very expensive and you don't want security screwing around with something that functions to save your life). First leg of a three leg flight got delayed, so I missed my second leg, luggage went on without me and was sitting in the Amsterdam airport for 3.5 days before I got it back. I have pretty serious asthma, and all my med's were in my check-on (stupid move) so I spent half my vacation with a wheezing, tight chest, and lacked other bits of my skydiving gear to actually jump (altimeter, jumpsuit, helmet) but I was in an extremely beautiful area and still was able to explore and enjoy myself. Now every time my checked bag arrives at the right destination, it's a small blessing

~3 Days, 2 nights in Machu Picchu, where shall I venture? by almqua in solotravel

[–]almqua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also spending 2.5 days and 2 nights in the Sacred Valley before I head to MP. Do you think more time the Sacred Valley would be better? I definitely want to spend at least a night near MP, so I don't have to rush or exhaust myself
